Man City injury update: Phil Foden, Kevin De Bruyne and Nathan Ake latest news and return dates

It was mixed news for Manchester City on the injury front in their draw with Real Madrid.

Phil Foden picked up a knock late in the Champions League thriller, which Kevin De Bruyne missed.

Kyle Walker and Nathan Ake also, as expected, sat out the trip but Josko Gvardiol recovered from injury in time to score a superb long-range goal at the Bernabeu.

Next up is the visit of Luton before Real head to the Etihad.

Here is your latest update of Man City injury news and return dates...

Phil Foden

The final minutes of Tuesday’s draw saw Foden depart for Julian Alvarez after receiving treatment.

Speaking to TNT Sports post-match, the England international confirmed he felt a dead leg but was optimistic he would be back soon.

“Just got a bad dead leg at the end, time to recover before the next games so hopefully I can,” he said.

Pep Guardiola labelled the injury just a “knock”.

Given the enormity of the quarter-final second leg, there is every chance that City opt to protect him this weekend.

Potential return date: April 13, vs Luton or April 17, vs Real Madrid

Kevin De Bruyne

Guardiola left De Bruyne out of his starting line-up in Madrid due to a sickness bug.

“He feels unwell,” said the manager.

“I don't know, we had a meeting and he was ready, when we arrived in the locker room he started to vomit and say he's not ready. It's not good news but is what it is.”

Reports suggest the issue is not a serious one.

Potential return date: April 13, vs Luton

Nathan Ake

City lost Ake to a calf injury in the recent draw with Arsenal and he sat out the games with Palace and Real.

The club has not yet set out a timeframe for his return.

Potential return date: Unknown

Kyle Walker

England defender Walker picked up a leg muscle injury in the recent international break and has not played since.

He trained alone ahead of the Madrid game and is said to not be too far off a recovery.

Potential return date: April 2024
