A look at Oklahoma City's girls high school basketball Fab 10 rankings for Feb. 15

With Oklahoma high school basketball playoff brackets set, it's time to revisit the Fab 10 before diving into the postseason.

Each week, The Oklahoman’s Hallie Hart takes a look at the top girls basketball teams in the Oklahoma City area.

Here are the rankings for Feb. 15-21.

1. Putnam West (21-1)

Last week: 1

Up next: Tuesday vs. Capitol Hill

What to know: Checking in at No. 22 in the latest edition of ESPN’s SCNext national girls basketball rankings, the Patriots finished as District 6A-2 champions. Other than one puzzling loss to Edmond Santa Fe, Putnam West stayed consistent throughout the season, including a 57-35 victory in last week’s rematch with the Wolves. Sophomore guard Jayla Constant was averaging 18 points, five rebounds and two assists per game entering Tuesday’s win at Westmoore.

2. Edmond North (20-1)

Last week: 2

Up next: Tuesday vs. Northwest Classen

What to know: Edmond North secured the District 6A-1 title. Since falling to Putnam West, the Huskies have compiled a nine-game win streak. They ended the regular season in dominant fashion with a 93-38 win over Piedmont.

3. Bethany (19-4)

Last week: 3

Up next: Friday vs. Clinton

What to know: Top-ranked Class 4A Bethany has continued to post stunning scores. The Bronchos trounced Ardmore, 93-47, before closing the regular season with an 85-21 rout of Oklahoma Christian School. In their most recent loss, they played New Jersey’s Morris Catholic, an undefeated ESPN national top-10 team, within four points.

4. Choctaw (22-0)

Last week: 5

Up next: Tuesday vs. U.S. Grant

What to know: A big milestone boosts Choctaw’s Fab 10 standing. For the first time in program history, the Yellowjackets went undefeated in the regular season. The District 6A-4 champions capped their perfect campaign with a 53-35 home victory against Jenks on Tuesday. Senior wing Kate Davis led Choctaw with 16 points.

5. Edmond Memorial (20-3)

Last week: 4

Up next: Tuesday vs. Southmoore

What to know: The District 6A-3 champions carry momentum into the playoffs. After falling twice to Sand Springs, Edmond Memorial claimed a 59-44 victory against the Sandites. The Bulldogs then defeated Enid and Tulsa Union, extending their win streak to seven.

6. El Reno (23-0)

Last week: 6

Up next: Friday vs. Guymon-Altus winner

What to know: El Reno stayed perfect throughout the regular season, concluding the schedule with a 43-28 home win against Shawnee. Senior forward Pauline Black-Harmon recently surpassed 1,000 career points after setting the program’s rebounding record. Receiving a bye in the first round of playoffs, El Reno won’t play Tuesday.

7. Carl Albert (19-4)

Last week: 7

Up next: Tuesday vs. Southeast

What to know: Carl Albert finished second in District 5A-1, trailing only El Reno. The Titans carry a six-game win streak into playoffs. North Texas softball signee Ausha Moore is showing basketball leadership, averaging 15 points and seven rebounds during the past week.

8. Putnam North (18-5)

Last week: 8

Up next: Tuesday vs. Lawton

What to know: The Panthers placed second in District 6A-1, solidifying their status as regional hosts. Putnam North defeated Moore, 59-43, to close the regular season.

9. Mustang (17-6)

Last week: 9

Up next: Tuesday vs. Lawton Eisenhower at Yukon

What to know: Mustang finished third in a tough District 6A-1, following Edmond North and Putnam North. The Broncos vanquished Norman North, 71-49, in their regular-season finale.

10. Classen SAS (17-6)

Last week: 10

Up next: Saturday vs. Cache

What to know: Class 4A Classen SAS defeated 2A power Riverside, 62-49, last week. The Comets earned a spot as district hosts, finishing the regular season with nine straight victories.

Just on the outside

Dale: The Pirates have defeated every opponent except for Millwood.

Douglass: Douglass is 15-3 entering the Class 4A playoffs.

Jones: Striving to four-peat as a state champion, Class 3A Jones carries a seven-game win streak into the postseason.

Midwest City: The Bombers are District 5A-2 champions with a 14-0 district record.

Millwood: The Jan. 23 victory against Dale marked a turning point for Millwood. The Falcons haven’t lost since.

Yukon: The Millers finished second in District 6A-2, earning a regional host spot.
