LOOK: Hubert Davis gives spirted interview that leads to UNC run

Saturday’s round of 32 matchup against Michigan State was going to be a tough fight from the start for No. 1 seed North Carolina. Going into the game with just a 3.5-point spread, many expected a close game.

And to start it, Michigan State came out hot jumping out to a 12-point lead in the first half, doing so on both ends of the court. North Carolina was struggling to hit shots and let the Spartans get what the wanted on the other end.

Then the run happened.

As the game went into a timeout, head coach Hubert Davis was interviewed by Allie LaForce and he was clearly upset with how his team was playing at that point in the game. Davis didn’t let LaForce finish her question and gave a spirited answer before rushing back into the huddle:

The interview and what Davis said in the huddle worked as the Tar Heels went on a 17-0 run and closed out the half on a 23-3 run to take a 40-31 lead at the break.

North Carolina is trying to punch their ticket to the Sweet 16 for the second time in three seasons.
