Columbus Crew is spending more than $15 million on their 2023 roster. Here's what we know
According to the latest MLS Players Association salary guide, the Crew are spending more than $15 million on its roster, including three players that cost more than $1 million in 2023.
According to the latest data from the MLSPA, forward Cucho Hernandez ($2,886,000), midfielder Darlington Nagbe ($1,800,000) and midfielder Diego Rossi ($2,677,000) are the Crew's three highest-paid players in 2023.
Hernadez and Rossi's salaries are the 19th and 20th most expensive in MLS, respectively.
Overall, the Crew are paying $15,313,747 for 28 players: the 14th-largest salary in all of MLS.
The Crew's entire salary is less than Inter Miami CF is paying Lionel Messi, who is making $20,446,667 in 2023.
Julian Gressel, who the Crew acquired from the Vancouver Whitecaps, in July, is making $930,406 in 2023 after trading $500,000 in general allocation money for the midfielder.
Rudy Camacho, who the Crew aquired from CF Montreal for $400,000 in general allocation money in July, is making $554,000 in 2023.
Yevhen Cheberko signed with the Crew in June and is earning $418,250 in 2023.
The MLSPA shares both base salary and guaranteed compensation. Guaranteed compensation is calculated as "a player's base salary and all signing and guaranteed bonuses annualized over the term of the player's contract, including option years," per the MLSPA.
