Nashville SC has one less central midfielder on its 2021 roster, but has received significant funds in exchange. The club announced Thursday it has sent central midfielder Derrick Jones to Houston Dynamo FC in exchange for $250,000 in general allocation money (GAM). Jones, who Nashville signed in May 2019 from the Philadelphia Union for $175,000 in GAM, played for Nashville in the USL before making 18 appearances in 2020, starting nine matches and assisting on two goals.
The next time Nashville SC takes the field in MLS, it will have a club mascot to cheer it on. But the story behind the fanatic figure dates back before Nashville's MLS era began. On the two-year anniversary of a coyote being discovered inside the Music City Center, tucked into a corner of an exhibit hall bathroom, Nashville SC announced Wednesday its mascot: Tempo the Coyote.
