Sporting KC II announced the signing of left back Aedan Stanley on Friday, pending league and federation approval. This news comes after the club announced that Danny Barbir will be returning and the signing of Preston Judd. Stanley has represented the U.S. as a youth international, representing the U-18 national team before joining several training camps with the U-20’s.
With limited playing opportunities in front of him and his enjoyment of the sport on the wane, an opportunity presented itself that gave the well-travelled goalkeeper pause for thought. The question was which path to follow, to sign another contract to play minor-league soccer or to make the transition to coaching with a Major League Soccer franchise. Darrin MacLeod is confident he made the right move by opting for the latter.
The 2020 MLS season has come to an end and much like we did in 2019 for Sporting Kansas City, it’s time to look back at how each player performed. Keep in mind the stats look diminished for many players, but just 21 regular season games were played in this COVID shortened season (instead of the typical 34).
