Chiefs stock watch: Which players impressed during Week 18

The Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Denver Broncos on the road to solidify a finish of no less than the AFC’s No. 2 seed. The clutch plays went Kansas City’s way on both sides of the ball to steal the 28-24 victory.

Here’s a look at how the stock is trending for some players after Week 18. Check it out:

Stock Up: Mecole Hardman

Many have been clamoring for a breakout game with Mecole Hardman, who took full advantage of the additional targets as Tyreek Hill was slowed with a heel injury. The former Georgia Bulldog finished the game with 103 yards, receiving eight catches averaging 12.9 yards per reception. Hardman’s 11 targets were his most since Week 5 against the Buffalo Bills.

Stock Up: Patrick Mahomes

The always crafty skill set of Patrick Mahomes was in full effect in Saturday’s victory as he relied on more than just his arm. The Pro Bowl quarterback led the team in rushing with 54 yards on nine carries while still passing for 270 yards and two touchdowns. In the first quarter, Mahomes also collected another milestone with his 150th career touchdown pass.

Stock Up: Nick Bolton

The rookie season of Nick Bolton has turned many heads around the league as he’s quickly become a defensive leader. The former Missouri Tiger led the team in tackles with four but had the play of the game, recovering a Broncos fumble and taking it 86 yards for what would be the game-winning touchdown in the fourth quarter. Bolton caps his rookie campaign as one of the leading candidates for defensive rookie of the year in the AFC.

Stock Down: Daniel Sorensen

The 2021 regular season is over, and Daniel Sorensen has had more than his fair share of miscues and criticism. He received heckling on social media for his coverage against Broncos receivers, most notably on a play in the third quarter to Tim Patrick. The third-and-13 conversion under Sorensen’s watch wasn’t a proud moment, but the veteran also only mustered a single tackle during the game.
