Arizona Cardinals game vs. Seattle Seahawks decided by field goal

The Seattle Seahawks and Arizona Cardinals play on Sunday, Jan. 7 at State Farm Stadium in a game on the NFL Week 18 schedule.

The game can be seen at 2:25 p.m. MST on FOX (stream with free trial from FUBO).

Last-second FG fails Cardinals

With 1 second left on the clock, Cardinals kicker Matt Prater lined up a 51-yard field goal against the Seattle Seahawks.

Just like his attempt minutes earlier, Prater's kick was wide right and the Cardinals lost the final game of the regular season 21-20.

Prater, known for making long field goals, missed two and made two against the Seahawks.

Seattle took the lead with less than 2 minutes left in the game, which gave the Cardinals little time to work.

Kyler Murray's 25-yard pass to tight end Trey McBride set up the field goal attempt.

Murray finished 22-for-30 for 262 yards and a touchdown. He had five carries for 33 yards. James Conner led Arizona with 150 yards and a touchdown on 27 carries. Michael Wilson had six catches for 95 yards.

Seattle QB Geno Smith was 16-for-28 for 189 yards and two touchdowns. Kenneth Walker had 17 carries for 78 yards.

Cardinals use clock, miss FG

After Seattle's fifth punt of the day, the Cardinals went back to work taking time off the clock.

With a touchdown lead and 6 minutes remaining, Arizona could run the ball, get first downs and put the game away. In doing so, it could also keep the Seahawks out of the playoffs.

Kyler Murray completed a 16-yard pass to Michael Wilson. With carries by James Conner and Murray, the clock ticked closer to 3 minutes.

Seattle used the final of its three timeouts as the clock hit 3 minutes.

On fourth down, Matt Prater missed a rare field goal from 43 yards.

Then, both sprinted into position. Murray to quarterback and Prater out to receiver. The ball was snapped and Murray completed a pass to Trey McBride in the back of the end zone. Prater only moved when the touchdown was scored and it was time for him to kick the point after.

Just like that, the Arizona Cardinals took a 20-13 lead over the Seahawks.

The 61-yard drive included a pair of 10-yard passes to Rondale Moore and an 11-yard throw to Michael Wilson.

However, once at the 2, the Cardinals were backed up with Murray was forced out of bounds on a keeper.
