Arkansas lands relief help in sixth transfer portal pick-up of the offseason

Dave Van Horn added his sixth player from the transfer portal this week as former Indiana pitcher Craig Yoho committed to Arkansas.

A 6-foot-3 right-hander, Yoho had a 3.41 earned-run average in 37 innings while striking out 63 and walking 19 last year for the Hoosiers. Opponents hit .232 against him.

Yoho missed the two previous years because Tommy John surgery and then a new injury. Before those hit, he was an outfielder at Houston. He didn’t collect enough at-bats of significance there before transferring to his home state’s flagship school. Last year was Yoho’s first season since 2020, when he appeared in just one game.

Yoho will join fellow pitcher Stone Hewlett along with outfielders Jack Wagner and Ty Wilsmeyer, shortstop Wehiwa Aloy and catcher Hudson White from the portal. It’s the top-ranked transfer class in the country.
