What Alabama football OC Nick Sheridan said about play-calling and QB Jalen Milroe
The relationship between new Alabama offensive coordinator Nick Sheridan and returning quarterback Jalen Milroe will be critical to the Crimson Tide's offense this fall, and just three practices into spring drills, Sheridan said Friday that he's confident in the veteran starter
"Very confident. He's an extremely talented kid. More than anything, he's just a great person. I've really enjoyed getting to know him, his family," Sheridan said. "Obviously everybody knows the talent, the explosiveness as a passer. He's very electric as a runner as well, but I've just enjoyed getting to know him as a person, what his history has been, what his journey's been, what's gotten him to this point. If you ask me how confident I am, I'd tell you very."
Milroe has a new offense to learn and there's plenty of newness in the personnel around him as well. The Crimson Tide returns limited experience at wide receiver, lost its top two running backs (Jase McClellan and Roydell Williams) from a year ago, and faces plenty of turnover on the offensive line as well.
"There's a lot of work to be done still, as a group, not just as a quarterback group, but as a whole offense," Sheridan added. "But this kid is a special player for sure, and I've enjoyed getting to know him. I feel very lucky."
As for play-calling duties, Sheridan said he'll handle that role this fall.
"That is the expectation," Sheridan said.
Sheridan last called plays as Indiana's offensive coordinator in 2020-21.
