26 WNC high school baseball players to watch at the midway point of the 2024 season

There is less than a month remaining in the Western North Carolina high school baseball regular season. With a month until the playoffs, we are just past the midway point of the season.

Here are 26 WNC high school baseball players to watch during the playoff push.

Chip Hoornstra, Asheville Christian Academy, Sr.: Hoornstra is hitting .455 with four doubles, a home run and 12 RBIs.

John Neuenschwander, Asheville Christian Academy, Jr.: Neuenschwander has a .462 batting average with two doubles and 11 RBIs.

Manning Stewart, Carolina Day, Sr.: Stewart is 3-2 with a 2.81 ERA, recording 66 strikeouts with only eight walks in 37⅓ innings.

Jackson Sellers, Hayesville, So.: Sellers has a .586 batting average with two doubles and 15 RBIs. He has a 3-1 record with a 0.82 ERA and 26 strikeouts in 17 innings.

Michael Mauney, Hayesville, Jr.: Mauney is hitting .533 with two doubles, a home run and 10 RBIs.

CJ Burleson, Mountain Heritage, Sr.: Burleson has a .469 batting average with five doubles and nine RBIs.

AJ Mackey, Mitchell, Fr.: Mackey is batting .417 with three doubles, a triple, two home runs and eight RBIs.

Adam Cook, Murphy, Jr.: Cook has a .552 batting average with two doubles and 17 RBIs.

Julian Lewis, North Henderson, Sr.: Lewis is hitting .341 with three doubles, a home run and 16 RBIs.

Mason Gasperson, North Henderson, Jr.: Gasperson has a .366 batting average with five doubles, a home run and 18 RBIs.

Peyton Maybin, North Henderson, So.: Maybin is 5-1 with 51 strikeouts and a 1.69 ERA.

Gunner Alm, Polk County, So.: The NC State commit has collected a .500 batting average with two doubles, a triple, seven home runs and 18 RBIs.

Ethan Orr, Robbinsville, Sr.: Orr is batting .485 with three doubles, a triple, three home runs and 19 RBIs. He has a 3-2 record and a 1.33 ERA while striking out 49 batters in 31⅓ innings.

Luke Nesbitt, Reynolds, Jr.: Nesbitt has a .414 batting average, three doubles and 14 RBIs. He is 2-0 with 21 strikeouts and a 2.14 ERA in 16⅓ innings.

Caden Davidson, Roberson, Jr.: Davidson is batting .341 with six doubles and 15 RBIs for the defending Class 4A champions.

Micah Simpson, Roberson, Jr.: The Western Carolina commit has a .310 batting average with four doubles and 12 RBIs. On the mound, he is 5-2 with a 1.79 ERA while striking out 32 batters and walking only five in 27⅓ innings.

Reno Jeter, Roberson, Sr.: Jeter has a 3-0 record with a 1.29 ERA and 35 strikeouts in 27⅔ innings.

Zeb Swangim, Roberson, Jr.: Swangim is batting .310 with four doubles, a home run, nine RBIs and 20 runs.

Amos Rich, Tuscola, So.: Rich is batting .442 with four doubles, four home runs and 21 RBIs. On the mound, he has struck out 41 batters and a 1.35 ERA in 20 innings while allowing only seven hits.

Kolt Nelson, Tuscola, Jr.: Nelson has a .463 batting average with 12 doubles, 13 RBIs and seven stolen bases.

Mason Harrell, Tuscola, So.: Harrell has 31 strikeouts with a 0.48 ERA in 28⅔ innings.

Amani Perin, West Henderson, Sr.: Perin is batting .421 with five doubles, six home runs and 18 RBIs.

Eli Shinn, West Henderson, Sr.: Shinn is hitting .556 with four doubles, two home runs and 12 RBIs.

Jackson Lyda, West Henderson, Sr.: The Western Carolina signee has a .375 batting average with four doubles, two triples, two home runs and seven RBIs.

Jude Lyda, West Henderson, Sr.: Lyda has a .478 batting average along with eight doubles, a triple, a home run and 20 RBIs.

Truitt Manuel, West Henderson, Sr.: The NC State signee is 4-0 with a 0.74 ERA and 41 strikeouts in 19 innings.
