10 Greater Canton high school softball players to watch in the OHSAA tournament

The Ohio High School Athletic Association softball tournament draws are out and the postseason is set to arrive for area teams this week. With it comes the opportunity for plenty of talented area players to showcase their talent. All have the potential to change the game with their unique abilities.

Here are 10 Greater Canton area high school softball players to keep an eye on during the OHSAA tournament.

Matti Benson

Louisville Leopards

Benson has had a spectacular senior season and is a big reason why the Leopards are dreaming big heading into the postseason. The University of Maryland recruit is hitting .500 with seven home runs, 30 RBIs, 23 runs, seven stolen bases and eight walks. You will find few players more exciting in the area.

Sadie Carroll

North Canton Hoover Vikings

Carroll is the big bat in the middle of the Hoover lineup. She has a knack for coming up with clutch hits. Carroll leads Hoover with a .469 batting average. A tough schedule should have Carroll and the Vikings ready for the OHSAA tournament.

Evelyn Lynn

Canton South Wildcats

You'd be hard pressed to find a batting average for an everyday player anywhere higher than Lynn, who leads the area with a .739 batting average. Lynn recently had a six-home run week and is the county's career home run leader. This is a dangerous player looking to finish her decorated career strong in the OHSAA tournament.

Chelsea Miller

Marlington Dukes

This freshman has burst onto the scene and provided offense in a big way for Marlington. Miller is hitting .508 with five home runs, 24 RBIs and 28 runs. When you combine her with Audrey Miller and Maria Walder, you have an offense capable of piling up runs in a hurry.

Camryn Kiefer

Tuslaw Mustangs

Kiefer has logged another outstanding regular season for Tuslaw. She is hitting .529 with eight home runs, 21 RBIs, 16 runs and 12 walks. Kiefer is also 6-3 as a pitcher with a 1.28 ERA and 116 strikeouts in 65⅔ innings. Tuslaw has played a difficult schedule this season against larger schools and those experiences could be a help heading into the OHSAA tournament.

Olivia Brown

Lake Blue Streaks

The University of Akron commit is posting an outstanding season heading into the postseason. She has elite speed and is an excellent contact hitter. Brown is hitting .548 with seven stolen bases. Playing a tough Federal League schedule should have Brown and the Blue Streaks ready for tournament games.

Ryleigh Hall

GlenOak Golden Eagles

Hall has two home runs and 12 RBIs this season, as most teams opt to pitch around her. GlenOak has been very competitive in the Federal League this season and will be looking to make waves in the tournament.

Ella Letosky

North Canton Hoover Vikings

Letosky is part of an excellent pitching duo for Hoover with Summer McCaw. Letosky is 5-1 with an 0.91 ERA. She has 63 strikeouts in 38⅔ innings. Having two quality starters is a luxury many other teams in the OHSAA tournament will not have.

Marlee Pireu

Perry Panthers

Pireu is a dangerous hitter who can change the complexion of a game with a swing of the bat. She has had multiple clutch hits. Pireu is signed to play at Malone University next season. Few programs play a more difficult schedule than Perry.

Addy Campbell

Louisville Leopards

Campbell has emerged as a serious power threat for Louisville. Campbell is hitting .477 with three home runs and 14 RBIs. The Leopards offense around Benson has improved dramatically and players like Campbell are a big part of that. It's a reason why the Leopards have the potential to be a big player in the OHSAA tournament.
