Price blasts critics as 'nerds'

Tampa Bay Rays ace David Price vented his frustration over Saturday's loss to the Boston Red Sox by going after critical members of the media via Twitter.

The 2012 AL Cy Young Award winner referred to TBS analysts Dirk Hayhurst and Tom Verducci as "nerds" in a postgame tweet.

"Dirk Hayhurst...COULDNT hack it...Tom Verducci wasn't even a water boy in high school...but yet they can still bash a player...SAVE IT NERDS," Price wrote.

Price gave up nine hits and seven earned runs over seven innings in the 7-4 loss in Game 2 of the American League Division Series.

Boston leads the best-of-5 series 2-0.
