Nov 21 (The Sports Xchange) - The San Francisco 49ers placed quarterback Colin Kaepernick on injured reserve Saturday with an injury to his non-throwing left shoulder, ending his season. Quarterback Dylan Thompson was promoted from the practice squad to the active roster to take Kaepernick's spot. Kaepernick was recently benched in favor of Blaine Gabbert as the starter. Just Friday, Kaepernick was listed as probable on the 49ers' injury report. According to the Sacramento Bee, he has had the injury since the team's Oct. 4 loss to the Green Bay Packers. Kaepernick played in nine games (eight starts) this season. He threw for 1,615 yards with six touchdowns and five interceptions. He also rushed for 256 yards with one touchdown. San Francisco (3-6) visits the Seattle Seahawks (4-5) on Sunday. --- The Dallas Cowboys activated quarterback Tony Romo for Sunday's game at the Miami Dolphins. Romo was taken off the team's injured reserve/designated to return list on Saturday. He has been out since breaking his left collarbone on Sept. 20 against the Philadelphia Eagles. The Cowboys won their first two games of the season but have lost all seven that Romo has missed. --- The Green Bay Packers upgraded defensive back Micah Hyde (hip) and guard T.J. Lang (shoulder) to probable for Sunday's NFC North showdown against the Minnesota Vikings. Packers wide receiver Ty Montgomery (ankle) was downgraded to doubtful further depleting the receiving corps with Jared Abbrederis ruled out with rib and chest injuries. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers was listed as probable on Friday with a sore right shoulder, appearing on the injury report for the first time this season. --- The St. Louis Rams ruled defensive end Robert Quinn out for Sunday's game against the Baltimore Ravens due to a hip/back injury. Quinn has been dealing with injuries since the Week 6 bye. He sat out two weeks ago against the Minnesota Vikings and played just 14 snaps last Sunday against the Chicago Bears. Eugene Sims started in Quinn's place the past two weeks. Quinn had 10.5 sacks in 2014 and 19 sacks in 2013. He has five sacks so far this season. --- Arizona Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer, Seattle Seahawks linebacker K.J. Wright and Miami Dolphins defensive tackle C.J. Mosley were among those hit with fines by the NFL this week. Wright was fined $23,152 for a hit on Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald. In that same game, Palmer made a gesture toward his crotch and was fined $11,576 by the NFL. Mosley was was fined $17,363 for roughing the passer. --- The Tampa Bay Buccaneers promoted linebacker Josh Keyes from the practice squad to the active roster. Keyes, a rookie out of Boston College, originally entered the league this past offseason with Tampa Bay and also spent two weeks on the Kansas City Chiefs' practice squad. --- The Seattle Seahawks waived running back Bryce Brown and promoted linebacker Eric Pinkins from the practice squad. Starter Marshawn Lynch is questionable for the game against San Francisco with an abdomen injury. (Editing by Larry Fine) ))
