Greg Hardy signs $13.1 million franchise tender
Carolina Panthers defensive end Greg Hardy has signed his $13.1 million franchise tender, guaranteeing his salary for the year.
The entire amount now counts against the Panthers' salary cap.
Hardy is now not able to sign an offer sheet with another team.
It also means that Hardy will be required to attend all mandatory offseason activities.
Hardy and the Panthers are expected to try to strike a deal on a long-term contract between now and July 15, the NFL deadline for frnachise players to sign long-term deals or play the entire season under the tag.
Hardy emerged as an elite pass rusher last season, tying a franchise record with 15 sacks.
