Cardinals sign Mike Thomas

The Arizona Cardinals signed veteran wide receiver Mike Thomas to a one-year contract one day after he was cut by the Detroit Lions.

Thomas arrived in time for practice after choosing the Cardinals over a few other teams.

“Obviously I was wanted a little bit," Thomas told Arizona reporters. "It just worked out I could be here.”

Thomas caught only five passes last season for the Lions.

When he was with the Jacksonville Jaguars for the previous three seasons, Thomas caught 158 passes for 1,688 yards and six touchdowns.

“Nothing went wrong,” Thomas said regarding Detroit. “I just think when I got there last year they had a lot of guys who were injured and now they have guys that are healthy. It wasn’t just working out in the numbers game or me being a fit for what they wanted to do in Detroit. So here I am.”
