Bengals re-sign Tate, Johnson

The Cincinnati Bengals re-signed wide receiver/returner Brandon Tate, according to multiple reports.

The NFL Network first reported the one-year deal Saturday and the Cincinnati Enquirer later cited a league source that terms were reached.

The Bengals announced that quarterback Josh Johnson signed a two-year contract Saturday after the two sides agreed to a deal on Thursday.

Tate averaged 8.9 yards per punt return and 24.8 yards on kick returns last year. He also had 13 catches for 211 yards with a touchdown. He led Cincinnati with 16.2 yards per reception.

Like Tate, Johnson is entering his fifth NFL season. Johnson has completed 96 of 177 passes for 1,042 yards with five touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He has made five career starts and will compete for a backup spot behind starter Andy Dalton.
