Yellowjackets report: Kidd has hat trick in win at Northland

Sep. 27—ASHLAND — Superior High School alum Jake Kidd notched a hat trick for his other home team on Wednesday, Sept. 27, as Wisconsin-Superior men's soccer took down Northland College 6-2 in an Upper Midwest Athletic Conference game.

Kidd opened the scoring just 2:22 in from an assist by Josh Bellamy, but Harrison Tibbetts equalized for the Lumberjacks and the game remained deadlocked through the half despite a 13-1 advantage for the visitors in shot attempts (8-1 in shots on target).

It took only 49 seconds of the second period for the Yellowjackets to take the advantage, which they did thanks to Zach Tiemeyer, with Kidd recording the assist. Kidd completed his three-goal game by finding the net in the 51st and 65th minutes of play with a Northland own goal in between, as UWS made it 5-1 after less than 20 minutes had run off in the second half.

Isaac Becket had the other goal for UWS, now 5-2-2 overall and 4-1 in the UMAC. Alex Paredes made two saves while splitting time with Patrick Sessions between the sticks for the Yellowjackets.

UWS returns to the field on Saturday at home vs. Martin Luther.

Niya Wilson scored a pair of goals as Wisconsin-Superior women's soccer controlled play from beginning to end in a 5-0 rout of Northland in UMAC play on Wednesday, Sept. 27 in Ashland.

Wilson opened and closed the scoring with her goals in the 14th and 58th minutes, while Mya Holmquist, Halle Carlson and Hailey Hollister helped UWS take a 4-0 lead into the halftime break.

UWS had a 26-4 advantage in shot attempts, 16-3 in shots on target.

Jenna Lang made three saves for a shutout for UWS (5-2-1, 5-0 UMAC). The Yellowjackets return to action on Saturday afternoon at home vs. Martin Luther.
