YAIAA girls' lacrosse coaches name 2023 league all-stars and players of the year

YAIAA girls' lacrosse coaches announced their selections for league all-stars this week.

They also announced awards for every position group in the league. Earning the selection for overall Player of the Year and Most Valuable Midfielder was South Western senior Leah Leonard.

Leonard has led the Mustangs to a 17-7 record and trip to the PIAA Class 3A playoffs, where the Mustangs lost to District 1's Springfield Tuesday night. South Western also reached the YAIAA title game and finished third in District 3.

South Western sophomore Cam Storey was named Most Valuable goalie.

New Oxford took home the other two awards. Senior Ally Mathis was named Most Valuable Attacker and senior Naomi Doll was named Most Valuable Defender. The Colonials finished 8-7 this season. Mathis scored 80 goals and added 24 assists.
