World No. 7 Patrick Cantlay commits to 2024 Travelers Championship

Another one of the world’s top golfers has committed to this year’s Travelers Championship.

Patrick Cantlay, ranked seventh in the Official World Golf Rankings, will be back in Cromwell this summer, the tournament announced Tuesday.

The 31-year-old came in fourth at the Travelers last season, his best finish in nine appearances in the event.

Cantlay joins a field that is already set to include World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler and last season’s winner, Keegan Bradley.

“Patrick has been well known to our fans and the golf community since he first came here in 2011 and made history by shooting a 60 as an amateur,” tournament director Nathan Grube said in a release. “He’s turned into one of professional golf’s best players and one of the faces of the PGA TOUR. Having him in this year’s player field adds another star who can win any time he plays.”

Cantlay has made seven starts so far this season, making the cut in all seven. He finished tied for fourth at The Genesis Invitational in February.

The Travelers Championship field is expected to be stacked once again, as it remains a ‘signature event’ on the PGA Tour, with a $20 million purse.

More player commitments are expected in the coming weeks.
