Apr. 19—WORTHINGTON — The boys and girls golf teams at Worthington High School were again at the GreatLife Golf and Fitness Club for a home meet against Pipestone Area.

In chilly, windy conditions, both teams performed well with the boys team beating Pipestone by a score of 177-184 and the girls team finishing with a score of 203. It is the second consecutive victory of the season for the boys team, having defeated Fulda in a home meet on Monday.

For the girls team, it is the second-straight meet where they went against a school that didn't field a complete team of at least four golfers to compile team scores.

The girls meet saw senior Trojan Madison Beckmann once again be the low-scoring medalist with a score of 47. She finished with a par, four bogeys and four double bogeys through the nine-hole round.

Freshman Claire Meyer finished one shot behind and scored 48 to place second among individuals. Pipestone's Vivian Brockberg shot a 54 to place third and two more Trojan golfers rounded out the top five.

Junior Claire Mahlberg and senior Abryona Erwin tied for fourth with scores of 54 each to round out Worthington's final team score. Mulder had a birdie on the second hole and he was at even par through four holes. He then had a triple bogey on hole five and a bogey on hole six before bouncing back with his second birdie on hole seven. He wound up seven over par on the day.

Nickel finished with four pars, three bogeys and a couple of double bogeys to finish with his seven under par score.

Pipestone's Max Taubert finished third among individuals after shooting a 44 and senior Logan Powers shot a 45 for WHS to place fourth. Pipestone's Jackson Morgan and Will DeBates each shot 46 to tie for fifth and round out the top five.

Up next for the Trojan boys team is the Trojan Invite on Saturday starting at 10 a.m. Competing in the invite include area schools like Jackson County Central, Murray County Central and Windom.

The girls team will next compete on Monday in a Big South Division event in Marshall. Competing in that meet with the Trojans are Marshall, Luverne, Pipestone, Redwood Valley and Windom.
