Wednesday's Top Prep Performers: Newbury Park, Oak Park clinch league volleyball titles

Highlights from Wednesday in high school sports:

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

  • Nolan Higa finished with 24 kills, 21 assists and two aces, Houston Hull had 15 kills, Caleb Eschenberg contributed 10 kills, three blocks and two aces, and Luke Pace added six kills and three blocks as Newbury Park (12-12, 9-1) defeated Thousand Oaks 25-20, 18-25, 25-17, 25-22 to clinch the Marmonte League championship. The CIF-SS playoff pairings will be announced Saturday at 11 a.m.

  • Nikko Songco had 13 kills and 10 digs, Will Nicks finished with five kills and two blocks, and Elie Gorowitz had 19 digs and three blocks as Oak Park (14-6, 8-0) swept Simi Valley 27-25, 25-17, 25-16 to finish as unbeaten Coastal Canyon League champions.

  • JP Mawas had 31 assists and two kills, Joseph Soltero had nine kills and six digs, and Caiden Aguilar had seven kills as Oxnard (19-5, 6-4) swept Pacifica 25-10, 25-18, 25-21 to finish fifth in the Channel League.

  • Jack Smolarski had 30 kills, Josh Supa had 15 kills, Dash Cowley finished with 25 assists and seven kills, and Jack Blem-Keck compiled 28 assists to lead Agoura to a 28-26, 25-22, 24-26, 22-26, 15-13 win over Calabasas in a Marmonte League match.

BASEBALL

  • Boston Bateman pitched five no-hit innings with 12 strikeouts and four walks, Victor Tostado allowed one hit in two scoreless innings of relief, Nate Tostado went 2 for 3 with an RBI, Blaise Meylemans was 1 for 3 with an RBI, and Tommy Goodin had a double as Camarillo (15-5, 9-0) clinched at least a share of the Canyon League title with a 3-0 victory over Royal. Isaiah Tillman allowed three runs in five innings and Dustin Dunwoody went 1 for 1 for the Highlanders (15-10, 4-7).

  • Landen Adair went 4 for 5 with two RBIs, Liam Blake was 2 for 4 with two RBIs, Walker Hodges was 1 for 1 with two RBIs, Hector Pina went 1 for 2 with two RBIs, Danny Pina and Collin Yamamoto each had a hit and an RBI, and Kyle Casey allowed one run in four innings to lead Simi Valley (12-9-2, 5-3-1) to a 13-2 win over Oak Park in a Coastal Canyon League game. Luke Sater had a double and an RBI and Andrew Rosen was 1 for 3 with an RBI for the Eagles (4-12, 0-9).

  • Robert Juker went 3 for 4 with four RBIs, Adam Arth was 3 for 5 with an RBI and allowed one earned run on two hits with six strikeouts in four innings, Russell Brown went 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI, Davin Arth was 1 for 2 with two walks, and Tristan Stehle had a hit and two RBIs to lead Foothill Tech (11-11-1) to a 10-3 win over Grace Brethren in a nonleague game. Noah Cooper was 1 for 1 with an RBI and Nico Kajiwara went 2 for 2 for the Lancers (10-11).

  • Ruben Venegas allowed just one hit while striking out eight in five scoreless innings, Sammy Gomez struck out four in two hitless innings, Tyler Antwine was 2 for 2 with two walks, a double and an RBI, and Sebastian Mendez went 2 for 2 with a walk and a run scored to lead Santa Paula (13-8) to a 5-0 victory over de Toledo in a nonleague game.

SOFTBALL

  • Hailey Olivera finished 3 for 3 with two doubles and five RBIs, Jocelyn Gomez went 2 for 3 with a double and four RBIs, Sarah Coccillos was 4 for 4 with four RBIs, Analia Lopez and Mariah Reyes each went 2 for 3 with an RBI, Jasmine Reyes was 1 for 3 with two RBIs, Alyssa Diaz went 2 for 2 with an RBI, Alexah Espinosa was 1 for 2 with an RBI, and Lillian Betancourt struck out two in five innings to lead Rio Mesa (20-3, 10-1) to a 22-5, five-inning win over Santa Barbara in a Channel League game.

  • Yaya Landeros was 2 for 4, Chloe Simpson, Tessa Denger, Siena Lightcap and Olivia Marsing each went 1 for 3, and Jessie Sebek allowed two earned runs in six innings for Ventura (7-9-1, 4-7) in its 4-0 loss to Dos Pueblos in a Channel League game.

BOYS TRACK AND FIELD

  • Camarillo defeated Moorpark 69-67 to secure the Coastal Canyon League regular-season title. David Caldino won the 100 (11.01) and 200 (22.16). Diego Montag won the 800 (2:01.47) and 1,600 (4:25.57). Jacson Cutting won the 110 hurdles (15.85). Landon McDermott won the discus (130-04). Jelani Kawaichi won the triple jump (42-10). For Moorpark, Dominic Perez won the 400 (51.77). Thomas White won the 3,200 (9:44.28). Alex Vincelette won the 300 hurdles (42.18). Cooper Cronquist won the shot put (43-02). David Benson won the high jump (6-0) and long jump (20-8). Matthew Pryor won the pole vault (12-0).

GIRLS TRACK AND FIELD

  • Camarillo defeated Moorpark 69.67-66.33 to secure the Coastal Canyon League regular-season title. Samara Alaniz won the 800 (2:29.92). Trinity Tipton won the shot put (36-04) and discus (136-04). For Moorpark, Gianna Gonzalez won the 100 (12.47), 200 (25.95) and long jump (16-03.25). Zara Philip won the 400 (61.39). Jenna Murray won the 1,600 (5:43.69) and 3,200 (12:15.75). Caitlyn Dougherty won the 100 hurdles (15.68) and 300 hurdles (46.41). Madeleine Waters won the pole vault (8-0) and triple jump (33-4.25). Lauren Ash won the high jump (4-10).

BOYS SWIMMING

  • Westlake defeated Oaks Christian 87-83 in a Marmonte League meet. Lucas Blietz won the 200 freestyle (1:46.36). Mark Mashkovich won the 50 freestyle (21.81) and 100 freestyle (47.27). Chase Martsolf won the 100 butterfly (53.45). Dylan Blietz won the 500 freestyle (4:51.99). For Oaks Christian, Joshua McBride won the 200 IM (1:57.87) and 100 breaststroke (59.22). Oliver Hitch won the 100 backstroke (58.24).

  • Channel Islands defeated Santa Paula 79-44 in a Citrus Coast League meet. France Calubiran won the 200 freestyle (2:38.10). Salvador Avalos won the 100 butterfly (1:29.97). Jayden Ursua won the 100 freestyle (1:00.34). Jonathan Xahuentitla won the 500 freestyle (6:32.16) and 100 backstroke (1:18.43). Sebastian Von Taylan won the 100 breaststroke (1:19.82). For Santa Paula, Zach Valenzuela won the 200 IM (2:41.43) and Fermin Sanchez won the 50 freestyle (25.94).

GIRLS SWIMMING

  • Oaks Christian defeated Westlake 103-67 in a Marmonte League meet. Abbey Kantz won the 100 freestyle (55.64) and 200 freestyle (1:59.36). Kaila Ord won the 200 IM (2:23.60) and 100 butterfly (1:01.65). Mia Fabros won the 50 freestyle (25.45) and 100 breaststroke (1:07.48). Ivan Malenkovic won the 500 freestyle (5:38.36). Nicole O'Neill won the 100 backstroke (1:06.72).

  • Santa Paula defeated Channel Islands 133-32 in a Citrus Coast League meet. Lindsey Ramirez won the 200 freestyle (2:30.34) and 500 freestyle (6:45.87). Fernanda Garcia won the 200 IM (3:05.90). Malia Deneef won the 50 freestyle (31.21). Elyssa Garcia won the 100 butterfly (1:17.40). Antonella Tapia won the 100 freestyle (1:11.09). Aubrey Phillips won the 100 backstroke (1:24.68). Charlotte Powell won the 100 breaststroke (1:32.63).

BOYS GOLF

  • Nick Benton earned medalist honors with a 74 and Jared Abercrombie and Morgan McDonough each shot a 75 to lead Oaks Christian to a 386-426 win over Agoura at Sandpiper Golf Course. Harrison Novak shot an 80 to lead the Chargers.

GIRLS LACROSSE

  • Agoura defeated Calabasas 21-6 in a Marmonte League game.
