Watch South Carolina basketball's Ashlyn Watkins stop UConn fast break with vicious block

COLUMBIA − Sophomore forward Ashlyn Watkins has racked up blocks all season, but her rejection in the first quarter of South Carolina women's basketball's game against UConn on Sunday was one of her best of the season.

Watkins chased down UConn freshman guard KK Arnold, following the Huskies' fast break opportunity before leaping at the right moment to swat her layup attempt.

Watkins, who has earned the nickname "Swatkins" on team social media posts, took the team lead in blocked shots from senior center Kamilla Cardoso with her rejection. Cardoso and Watkins both entered Sunday tied for 11th in the nation with 60 blocks on the season.

Watkins also went viral earlier this season with a breakaway dunk against Kentucky on Jan. 17. The dunk was the second of her career after she became the first player in program history to dunk last season.

Watkins racked up six points and four rebounds in the first quarter alone, helping lead the Gamecocks to an early 19-11 lead after one quarter.
