How to watch Alabama vs. Maryland in the second round of NCAA Tournament
The second round of the 2023 NCAA Tournament will get underway on Saturday and one of the key matchups is between the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Maryland Terrapins in Birmingham.
Alabama, the top overall seed, will look to defeat the Terrapins in the round of 32 for the second time in three seasons. In 2021, the Crimson Tide handled Maryland 96-77 on its way to the Sweet 16.
Saturday’s matchup has a lot of intrigue as Alabama could be without freshman sensation Brandon Miller, who is nursing a groin injury he suffered in the SEC Tournament.

Alabama player to watch: Brandon Miller

As I mentioned earlier, Brandon Miller’s status is questionable for Saturday night’s matchup. If he doesn’t play, things could get interesting in Birmingham. If Miller is healthy and plays, I look for him to put together a better performance than he did in the first round where he was held scoreless.
Maryland player to watch: Jahmir Young

Maryland is led by senior guard Jahmir Young. Young struggled to really find a rhythm against West Virginia in the first round and committed six turnovers in the contest. Containing Young is key to limiting the Maryland offense.

Maryland owns a 4-2 advantage in the all-time series with the Crimson Tide but as I mentioned earlier, Alabama defeated the Terrapins in their last matchup in the 2021 NCAA Tournament.

With Brandon Miller’s status unknown at this time, this is a tough game to really predict. Even without Miller, I believe Alabama has enough depth to defeat Maryland, but it does make things obviously more difficult. In the end, Alabama just has a little too much offensive power for the Terrapins to handle.
