See who readers picked as their Morning News Football Player of the Year in an open poll

An unforgettable football season in the Greater Savannah Area is in the books as four teams reached the GHSA state semifinals, while Bethesda won the SCISA Class 2A state championship.

The All-Greater Savannah Football Team was announced Tuesday with 36 players earning first-team honors.

The Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year, along with the overall Player of the Year, will be announced at the Coastal Empire High School Sports Awards show Friday, June 7, at the Johnny Mercer Theatre at the Savannah Civic Center.

Savannah Morning News readers to weighed and selected their choice for the All-Greater Savannah Football Player of the Year in an open poll, without any voting restrictions.

At the time of the deadline in the voting, Richmond Hill linebacker Gabriel Bauman was the winner as the junior edged Savannah Christian defensive back/athlete Jamari McIvory. Rooster Bing, the two-way standout on the line at Savannah Country Day, finished third.
