Results: First round state playoff Athens-area high school football player of the week
The results are in and it's time to announce the winner of the Athens-area high school football player of the week title for state playoffs round one.
Jefferson's Gavin Markey took the top spot with 50.24 percent of the votes. Madison County's Jaiden Hansen claimed second with 31.18 percent of the votes while Oglethorpe County's Jake Turner took third with 11.52 percent of votes.
Oglethorpe County and Madison County have been eliminated from the playoffs. Top-seeded Jefferson plays at home Friday against two-seed Hiram.

State playoff round one football player of the week nominees
Gavin Markey, Jefferson
Markey was 8 of 15 passing for 207 yards and four touchdowns in the Dragons win against Jackson.
Sammy Brown, Jefferson
Brown scored four touchdowns for the Dragons.
Zay Minish, Jefferson
Minish scored three touchdowns for the Dragons, grabbing four receptions for 116 yards.
Max Wilson, North Oconee
Wilson threw two touchdown passes and rushed for a 25-yard score to help the Titans advance to the second round.
J.J. Poole, North Oconee
Poole made a field goal in the win against Pace Academy.
Damoni Taylor, North Oconee
Taylor caught an 18-yard touchdown pass.
Tate Titshaw, North Oconee
Titshaw had a 1-yard touchdown run for the Titans and recovered a fumble.
Luke Waterworth, North Oconee
Waterworth scored a 7-yard touchdown on a pass from Wilson for the Titans.
Landon Roldan, North Oconee
Roldan ran for a fourth-quarter touchdown for the Titans.
Justin Curtis, North Oconee
Curtis added two touchdown runs for the Titans in the game's final eight minutes.
Zahkari Shiflet, Madison County
Shiflet ran for two touchdowns, including one in the third quarter to tie the score in the Raiders loss Lovett.
Camden Smith, Madison County
Smith scored a touchdown.
Jaiden Hansen, Madison County
Hansen added a field goal in the second quarter for the Red Raiders.
Jamari Welch, Athens Academy
Welch scored on a 3-yard run in the final three minutes of the first quarter to give the Spartans an early advantage.
Hampton Johnson, Athens Academy
Johnson connected on a 10-yard touchdown pass to K.J. Whitehead. The Spartans lost to Columbia.
K.J. Whitehead, Athens Academy
Whitehead scored a touchdown for the Spartans.
Austin McGee, Athens Academy
McGee scored a touchdown for the Spartans.
Titus Watkins, Oconee County
Watkins threw two touchdown passes, the first went for 49 yards, for the Warriors as they advanced to the second round.
Caiden Wood, Oconee County
Wood caught a touchdown pass and ran for two scores.
Jaiden Daniels, Commerce
Daniels rushed 10 times for 151 yards and three total touchdowns in the Tigers' first round win over Jasper County.
Tysean Wiggins, Commerce
Wiggins had 11 carries for 96 yards and a touchdown.
Jacari Huff, Commerce
Huff rushed for a 2-yard touchdown.
Adam Calderon, Commerce
Calderon hit a 25-yard field goal as time ran out in the first half.

Wallace tossed a 60-yard touchdown pass.
