Lexi Dean voted Clarksville-area girls high school athlete of the week for January 1-7

West Creek wrestler Lexi Dean was voted the Clarksville-area girls high school athlete of the week for Jan. 1-7.

Dean picked up 7,121 votes, good for 37.74% of the total. She's the third straight Coyote wrestler to be voted athlete of the week after winning a close contest with Houston County's R'Shonte Kizer and Clarksville Academy's Sicily Robinson, who garnered 5,878 and 5,603 votes, respectively.

Previous winners for the winter sports season are Clarksville Academy's Malaya Woullard, Northeast's Qimara Summers (twice), Northwest's Kendall Myree, West Creek's Eleasa Renken and West Creek's Mariana Bowen.

Nevaeh Brooks, basketball, Clarksville Christian: Led the Centurions in scoring twice as they went 2-1 on the week. Averaged 14.3 points, 3.7 assists, 4.3 steals and shot 56.7% from the field.

Lexi Dean, wrestling, West Creek: Placed first in the 120-pound division at the Red Hawk Rampage at Stewarts Creek on Jan. 6. Won three matches by pin and beat fifth-ranked Ava Johnson of Clarksville in the title match and led the Coyotes to a fourth-place finish out of 31 teams.

Torri James, basketball, Rossview: Scored 18 points, including the 1,000th of her career, in a 49-25 win over Northwest on Jan. 3. Scored 21 points in a 65-37 win over Northeast on Jan. 5.

Janiya Johnson, wrestling, Kirkwood: Won the 152-pound weight class at the Red Hawk Rampage, winning all four of her matches by fall and beating No. 6 Lily Avalos of Rossview in the championship as the Cobras placed seventh.

R'Shonte Kizer, basketball, Houston County: Scored 30 points, hitting eight 3-pointers, in a 78-40 win over Big Sandy on Jan. 5.

Audrey Levendusky, wrestling, Montgomery Central: Won the Red Hawk Rampage in the 145-pound weight class, earning three pins and defeating fifth-ranked Sally Johnson of Northwest by major decision in the final. Helped Central finish third.

Shyanne Michalski, wrestling, Northwest: Racked up three pins and a technical fall in the championship en route to winning the 114-pound division at the Red Hawk Rampage. Led the Vikings to second place behind Clarksville.

Sicily Robinson, basketball, Clarksville Academy: Led the Cougars with 19 points in a 55-44 win at Davidson Academy on Jan. 6.
