Vikings Wire highlights Jordan Addison’s route running as a special ability

The Minnesota Vikings selected USC receiver Jordan Addison with the 23rd overall pick in the 2023 NFL draft. This was a landing spot for Addison in a number of mock drafts leading up to Thursday night, especially with Adam Thielen leaving and going to the Carolina Panthers.

Vikings Wire has gone into detail on the pick, which gives Kirk Cousins another quality WR option alongside Justin Jefferson. One of the best qualities Addison brings to the table is his route-running ability, per Kevin Fielder of Vikings Wire.

“For what Addison lacks in speed, he makes up for in route running ability,” Fielder wrote. “Not only is Addison one of the best route runners in the class, but he might enter as one of the best in the league.

“Addison’s tape is littered with advanced techniques to run effective routes, including strong footwork to defeat leverages. If a defensive back isn’t alert, Addison will make him look silly and give him a lowlight.”

If you watched Addison at Pittsburgh or USC, this isn’t anything new. He now he enters an electric offense that should get him a ton of targets in his rookie campaign.
