The Rush: Tyson Fury speaks too soon, a Spike in Knicks ticket prices and Adam Sandler plays pickup hoops

JARED QUAY: The fight game is complex and weird, so much so that fighters don't even always know what's going on. On Sunday, heavyweight champion Tyson Fury tweeted that his unification fight against Anthony Joshua was 100% happening in Saudi Arabia on August 14. However, an arbitration judge on Monday ruled that Fury must first by Deontay Wilder in a rematch by September 14.
Now there are a number of ways that this can go. But the most likely scenario seems to be that Fury ends up fighting Wilder, who will look to avenge the beatdown he took in February of 2020.
It's reported that Fury and Joshua would each take home $75 million in a fight in Saudi Arabia. So I can see why the ruling comes as a big disappointment for both. Maybe boxing can get suddenly interesting again. So we don't have to force ourselves to watching one of the Paul brothers fight a guy they pulled out of Macaroni Grill. I mean, it is interesting, but come on. Who is that guy?
In case you hadn't heard, the Knicks are back, baby. With New York back in the playoffs for the first time since 2013, minimum ticket prices for game 1 against the Hawks are going for around $1,000. Crazy, but look at it this way, all right? Just pretend you would have spent about $100 on playoff tickets for the last eight or nine years. And then you'd be able to swallow that G a little bit easier.
- That's one way to look at it.
JARED QUAY: Or just do what Spike Lee doesn't pay whatever it takes to get in the building, sit courtside, and [BLEEP] Trae Young while he misses a 34-footer. The legendary director claims that he's spent around $300,000 every year for the last 30 years on Knicks tickets. And I'm no PhD, but that's around $9 million.
And it's not like the Knicks have been any good. Watching guys like Mike Sweetney and Travis Knight play basketball is akin to being waterboarded. Regardless, it'll be good to have Spike sitting courtside this postseason even if we do got to start a Go For Me to get him there in the future.
And finally, another film legend was spotted playing pickup in Long Island. Adam Sandler rode up in full Billy Hoyle chic, sporting a polo, shorts with extra bag, and those shoes that don't even have a label. The Sand Man dished out a few would-be assists, but his squad just couldn't convert.

JARED QUAY: What's even more troubling than my man's attire, though, was that he didn't get back on defense. I mean, comedy legends aren't excused from playing on both ends. If it's ever between you and David Spade for my squad, I'm picking Spade. I mean, he's only like 5' 4", but I bet he's scrappy.
