Vandebilt's Ramirez, South Terrebonne's Peltier voted postseason soccer players of the year

The ballots are closed, and with every vote counted, the postseason soccer players of the year are Justin Ramirez of Vandebilt Catholic for the boys and Kamryn Peltier of South Terrebonne for the girls.

Ramirez, a goalkeeper, led the Terriers to eight straight shutout wins, including three in a row to open the LHSAA playoffs. He received 44.5% of the vote, barely beating out H.L. Bourgeois midfielder Vincent Guerrero, who finished second with 40.6% of the vote. Terrebonne midfielder/defenseman Ryan Abadie took third with his 10.9% of the vote. Ramirez also received the most votes of any player in this poll.

Peltier, also a goalkeeper, also led the Gators to the playoffs. Early in the season, she also recorded five shutouts in the midst of a six-game winning streak. She received 48.1% of the vote, beating out the runner-up in Thibodaux defender Mary Grace Bilello and Amanda Bourgeois of Terrebonne.
