UNF's Chaz Lanier voted first-team All-ASUN, joins teammate Dorian James on all-academic team

University of North Florida junior guard Chaz Lanier was named to the All-ASUN first team on Monday and Jacksonville University sophomore guard Robert McCray V made the third team in voting by the league’s coaches.

Lanier led the ASUN in 3-point shooting percentage (44.1), 3-pointers per game (3.4) and was second in scoring (19.7 points per game) and free-throw percentage (88.1).

McCray is sixth in the conference with 17.2 points per game.

UNF guard Jaylen Smith, who averages 6.3 points and 2.3 assists per game, is on the all-freshman team.

Lanier and senior teammate Dorian James made the ASUN's all-academic team. Lanier has a 3.5 GPA in sports management and James, in a Master's program in health administration, has a 3.97 GPA.

Isaiah Cozart of Eastern Kentucky, a 6-foot-7 senior center, is the conference MVP and defensive player of the year. He averages 15.5 points, 9.9 rebounds and is the NCAA leader in blocked shots with 3.9 per game.

His coach, A.W. Hamilton, was voted coach of the year. The Colonels are the No. 1 seed in this week’s ASUN tournament.

Deyton Albury of Queens, a junior guard and a transfer from Chipola State College, is the ASUN newcomer of the year. He averages 17.4 points, 5.9 rebounds and 3.8 assists. Sai Witt, a junior forward (12.3 points), is the sixth man of the year.

Tucker Anderson, a Central Arkansas guard (14.3 points, 3.8 rebounds) is the freshman of the year.
