Two York County basketball stars named to boys' all-state team

Two York County basketball stars have been named all-state for their efforts this past season.

Central York junior Greg Guidinger was named second team in Class 6A, and Eastern York senior Austin Bausman was named third team in Class 4A.

More than 80 sports writers across the state participated in the selection process. The girls' all-state teams were released last week and York Suburban junior Janay Rissmiller and Christian School of York senior Linda Brown made the cut.

A 6-foot-7 stretch forward, Guidinger led Central York to a 22-8 record, YAIAA Division I and league titles and an appearance in the state playoffs.

He averaged 16.9 points, 8.5 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game while being an incredibly unselfish player on a team loaded with talent. He was named GameTimePA YAIAA Player of the Year.

He actually led the Panthers in assists despite being a forward on a team with multiple ball-handlers. Still, he could score close to 30 points when needed and averaged 19 points in three wins over rival York High that decided the division and league titles. He was efficient and shot 49% from the field and 84% from the free throw line.

He topped 1,000 career points in the district playoffs — even though he was only a junior and missed half his sophomore season to an ankle injury. He has scholarship offers from a number of NCAA Division I programs including Mount St. Mary’s, Marshall, Lafayette, Drexel, Robert Morris and Toledo.

A 6-foot-4 wing, Bausman was the senior leader for an Eastern York team that finished 20-9 and reached the PIAA Class 4A quarterfinals.

He averaged 16 points, 6.9 rebounds and 2.9 assists. He shot 52% from 2-point range and 37% from 3-point range while making more than 40 shots from behind the arc. He was named a second-team GameTimePA YAIAA all-star.

Bausman scored more than 1,300 points in his career to finish top 10 in Eastern York program history. He will play college basketball for Division III Marywood.

Both Guidinger and Bausman play in classifications loaded with players from Pittsburgh and Philadelphia — making their selections especially impressive.
