HOLLAND - Holland’s Tulip City United Soccer Club has finalized its 26-player roster and celebrated with a team supporter event at the Tulip City Brewstillery on Sunday afternoon.

The team is made up of talented local players and experienced college players.

“The team is a skilled group of players from West Michigan," Tulip City United Club Director Matt Davis said. "We hope to challenge for a league championship in our second year after finishing tied for second in the Midwest Premier League last year”.

The team includes former West Ottawa players Marxus Lugo from last year’s squad and newcomer Blake Barrios.

The team also lists Holland Christian graduate and current Davenport University student Kirby Eggers.

Holland High’s Brett Timmer, Isaiah Arredondo, Jack Klomparens, and Daniel and Abraham Arellano also made the squad.

Former Cornerstone keeper Andrew Marsh rejoined the squad and will provide experience and leadership. 10 different colleges are represented on the team including five players from Division I Western Michigan University and six players from Hope College.

The team includes Western Michigan University striker Jordan Walker who led the Midwest Premier League in scoring and won the Golden Boot for the last two years.

The team has two Brazilians, Caue Oliveria and Lucas Lobos, and a player from Ghana named Rokundo Emmanuel from Muskegon Community College. Trine defender Jared Cromwell also rejoins the Tulips to cement the back line.

“It is an impressive group of players,” said Tulip City United coach Greg Ceithaml. “We look forward to working on our team chemistry and preparing for our first match.”

Tulip City United plays their first home game of the season on Saturday, May 6, at the Holland High soccer field at 6 p.m. in a league match with The Futsal Factory from Canton. Tickets can be purchased at www.TulipCityUnited.Ludus.com.
