Tracking FAMU football's latest commitments and signees of the spring recruiting window

The spring opening of the NCAA Transfer Portal gives teams a chance to round out their rosters ahead of the season.

Players that are looking to utilize their remaining eligibility elsewhere are allowed to enter the portal until April 30.

Florida A&M football has been active in the portal thus far after most notably landing former LSU offensive lineman Kardell Thomas on April 18.

Here are some more players that have either committed or signed to join the Rattlers for the upcoming season.

Makody Robertson | Defensive Lineman | Committed to FAMU on April 21

Makody Robertson's commitment will add some depth on the frontend for the Dark Cloud Defense.

Robertson, a graduate transfer, played three seasons at fellow Division I-FCS Tarleton State. He logged 58 tackles (6.5 for loss) and a sack.

The Pflugerville, Texas native was originally offered by FAMU on Feb. 9.

Robertson also held offers from fellow SWAC programs Alabama A&M, Prairie View A&M and Southern.

Kyle Fitzgerald | Quarterback | Signed to FAMU on April 21

FAMU is still making moves on the highest school scene.

The Rattlers got a late signing from quarterback Kyle Fitzgerald from St. Xavier High School in Cincinnati last week.

Fitzgerald, 6-foot-3, 205 pounds, will be the youngest quarterback of six on the Rattlers' roster.

Cameron Gillis | Kicker | Committed to FAMU on April 22

FAMU has its kicker.

Cameron Gillis is coming from Stetson and have two years of eligibility remaining.

He was offered by FAMU on December 26, 2022 and committed on April 22 ― a week after taking his official visit during the Orange and Green Spring Game.

Gillis played three years for the Hatters and made 17 of 23 field goal attempts. He also did some punting during the 2021 season and averaged 32.6 yards per punt.

Zoren Tobe | Defensive Back | Committed to FAMU on April 26

Zoren Tobe is the twelfth FBS transfer that is coming to FAMU in the 2023 signing class.

The Orlando native played at Florida Atlantic after a two-year junior college stint at Fort Scott Community College.

Tobe, 6-foot, 190 pounds, will add depth to the backend of the Dark Cloud Defense and be reunited with his Ocoee High School teammates, fellow defensive backs Kendall Bohler and Lovie Jenkins.

Andrew Ritter | Linebacker | Committed to FAMU on April 28

The Big Bend is one of FAMU's recruiting hotspots.

The Rattlers got a commitment from local product Andrew Ritter, who played fullback and linebacker at Leon High School.

Ritter will be listed as a linebacker for the Rattlers and will likely join the team for fall training camp.

FAMU has made a habit of convincing Big Bend products to play for the hometown team.

Former Rickards High School star quarterback and current wide receiver Marcus Riley will return home to Tallahassee and play for the Rattlers.

He has one year of eligibility remaining.

Riley originally signed to Louisville as three-star in 2018, but transferred to Bethune-Cookman the following year.

Last season, he finished with with 39 receptions for 563 yards and five touchdowns for the Wildcats.

His career stats are 74 catches, 994 yards, and six touchdowns.
