Kings of the Kelley-Rex: Top Greater Taunton H.S. sports performers for May 13-19

The end of the spring high school sports regular season is on the horizon, with teams looking to secure their spots in the postseason.

Last week, Taunton baseball avenged their earlier loss to Franklin while Dighton-Rehoboth softball no hit Bishop Feehan, a few Taunton boy and girls track and field athletes scored wins at the MSTCA Twilight Invitational, Dighton-Rehoboth boys tennis swept Case, while Bridgewater-Raynham boys and girls tennis both swept Brockton and Bristol-Plymouth boys lacrosse scored some key league wins.

Here's a look at all of the scores, stats and highlights from the third week of May.

Saturday

Baseball

Vincent Tavares led the way for Bridgewater-Raynham (5-12, 2-5 SEC), going 2⅔ innings giving up 10 runs (three earned) on eight hits and five walks while striking out four and went 1-for-2 at the plate as the Trojans fell 10-0 to Lexington on the road in 4½ innings of non-league action. Cam Swinton tossed the remaining 1⅓ shutout innings giving up a hit and a walk while striking out one and Gavin Ross got the other hit for B-R.

Softball

Ava Selter led the way at the plate for Bridgewater-Raynham (10-5, 4-1 SEC), going 1-for-4 with a pair of runs and three RBIs off a home run as the Trojans beat Bishop Feehan 15-6 at home in non-league action. Olivia Roy went 1-for-3 with a run and a pair of RBIs while Chloe Martin went 1-for-2 with a pair of runs, Claire Roy went 0-for-2 with a pair of runs and an RBI, Samantha Clay went 1-for-1 with a run and an RBI, Taylor Reid went 0-for-3 with a run and an RBI and Lily Berman and Avery Erlichman each went 0-for-2 with a run. Maddie DeLano earned the win for B-R after going all seven innings giving up six runs on nine hits and eight walks while striking out three and went 2-for-3 with three runs and an RBI at the plate.

Boys Track and Field

Dmitrius Shearrion led the way for Taunton (2-2, 2-2 Hockomock), winning both the 100 meter (0:11.11) and 200 meter (0:22.13) as the Tigers finished tied for second with 76 points at the Hockomock League Championship at Milford High School. Ancil Alexander won the shot put with a personal best throw of 52'2.25" while the 4x100 meter relay team of Omari Rodrigues, Usman Yusif, Braydon Salvo and Shearrion won with a time of 0:43.52. Other point scoring performances include Kenny Jeanmichel finishing second in the high jump (6') and third in the triple jump (43'11.5"), Drew Alves finishing fourth the the 110 meter hurdles (0:16.25, personal best) and sixth in the high jump (5'8"), Yusif finishing fifth in the 400 meter (0:51.43, personal best), Brayden Blennau finishing sixth in the 400 meter (0:52.82, personal best) and Alex Susol finishing seventh in the shot put (41'0.5").

Marqui Galvin won both the 100 meter (0:11.21) and the long jump (21'5") as Bridgewater-Raynham (3-0, 3-0 SEC) competed at the MSTCA South Shore Twilight Invitational at Norwell High School. The Sprint Medley Relay 1600 meter team of Connor Johnson, Caiden Blake, Jack Hannigan and Dan Leet also won with a time of 4:04.34.

Evan Branville won the discus with a top throw of 92'5" while Braden Erlichman won the javelin with a top throw of 144'2" as Bristol-Plymouth competed at the Mercury Grand Invitational at Norton High School. Danny Keefe had the top track result for B-P, coming in fourth in the two mile with a personal best time of 11:03.69.

Joel DaSilva set a new school record for Dighton-Rehoboth (4-1, 4-1 SCC), winning the 400 meter hurdles with a personal best time of 0:58.43 as the Falcons finished third with 91 points at the SCC Championship at Seekonk High School. Also scoring wins were the 4x100 meter relay team of Will Dalton, DaSilva, Evan Thibert and Matt Suprenard (0:44.62) and the 4x400 meter relay team of DaSilva, Suprenard, Dalton and Seamus Sullivan (3:37.64). Other point scoring performances include Dalton finishing second in the 400 meter (0:50.82, personal best), Mason Morgado finishing second in the mile (4:43.63, personal best) and fourth in the triple jump (38'11.25", personal best), Tim Zibrida finishing third in the shot put (41'7") and fourth in discus (109'5"), Sullivan finishing fourth in the 100 meter (0:11.67) and fifth in the 200 meter (0:24.21), Suprenard finishing fourth in the 200 meter (0:23.9), Jordan Dietz finishing fourth in the 400 meter hurdles (1:05.34), the 4x800 meter relay team of Logan Keating, Sam Pickford, Braeden Caldera and Jonah Hebda finishing fourth (9:52.86), Cole Gifford finishing fourth in the javelin (141'4", personal best), Jeremy Gale finishing fifth in the mile (5:02.58) and Thibert finishing seventh in the 100 meter (0:11.75).

Girls Track and Field

Emersyn DePonte led the way for Taunton (1-3, 1-3 Hockomock), winning both the 800 meter (2:26.08) and the mile (5:09.07, personal best), while Sophia Olaniyan won the discus (118'3") as the Tigers finished sixth with 52⅓ points at the Hockomock League Championship at Milford High School. Other point scoring performances include the 4x100 meter relay team of Sophia Hall, Chloe Blanc, Nevaeh Young and Grace Inacio finishing fourth (0:52.44), Young finishing fifth in the 100 meter (0:13.35) and sixth in the 200 meter (0:27.53), Ciara Pina finishing fifth in the high jump (4'6"), Inacio finishing sixth in the 100 meter (0:), Renee Leao finishing seventh in the 100 meter hurdles (0:17.16), Bella Coughlin finishing eighth in the triple jump (32'1") and Brooke Hylander finishing eighth in the high jump (4"4').

Camden Strandberg won the high jump (5'2") and finished second in the mile (12:06.21, personal best) as Bridgewater-Raynham (3-0, 3-0 SEC) competed at the MSTCA South Shore Twilight Invitational at Norwell High School.

Zoey Onuegbu finished second in the 200 meter (0:26.91) and third in the 100 meter (0:13.01, personal best) as Bristol-Plymouth competed at the Mercury Grand Invitational at Norton High School. Christele Derogene had the best B-P finishes in field events, coming in third in the shot put (29'8.5") and fourth in discus (91'5"). In wheelchair events, Mary McDonald competed in the 100 meter (0:28.66), 800 meter (4:10.47) and shot put (7'1").

Mari Lavigne won the javelin with a personal best throw of 121'6" as Dighton-Rehoboth finished sixth with 51 points at the SCC Championship at Seekonk High School. Other point scoring performances include the 4x800 meter relay team of Hailey McCracken, Maggie Kazanjian, Riley Kazanjian and Caraline Corvi finishing second (11:36.93), Jalissa Raphino finishing third in the 100 meter (1:05.69, personal best), McCracken finishing third in the mile (5:54.8, personal best), Madison Root finishing third in the triple jump (31'10.5", personal best) and eighth in the 400 meter hurdles (1:21.87), the 4x400 meter relay team of Raphino, Kelsey Bain, Morgan-Rae Maher and Jadyn Toddings finishing third (4:47.66), Rebecca Zankul finishing fourth in the 100 meter (1:06.54, personal best) and the 4x100 meter relay team of Reese Jefferson, Maher, Alexis Gale and Mae Darowski finishing fifth (0:56.24).

Baseball

Brady Morin led the way for Taunton (15-4, 12-2 Hockomock), going five innings giving up an unearned run on five hits while striking out 10 as the Tigers beat North Attleboro 6-1 at home in Hockomock action. At the plate, Caden Lindskog went 1-for-4 with a pair of runs and a pair of RBIs while Cam Dorr went 2-for-2 with a run, Dwayne Burgo went 1-for-2 with an RBI and Andrew Cali went 1-for-3 with an RBI. Jack Cali tossed a shutout inning in relief while Johnny Escobalez tossed the final shutout inning striking out one and went 0-for-2 with two runs and an RBI at the plate. With the win, Taunton clinched its first outright Hockomock Kelley-Rex title since 2013.

Zach Branco led the way at the plate for Bristol-Plymouth (7-9, 6-4 MAC), going 1-for-4 with a run and a pair of RBIs as the Craftsmen fell 8-7 to Archbishop Williams at home in non-league action. Kyle Weldon went 1-for-3 with a pair of runs while Cam Wilbur went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI, Jamari Harris went 1-for-3 with a run and an RBI, Thaniel LaBrie went 2-for-3 with an RBI and Jayden Cruz went 1-for-4 with an RBI. Cam Cruz took the loss for B-P after going two innings in relief giving up a run on a hit and four walks while striking out three. Brayden Alves tossed the first five innings giving up seven runs (four earned) on nine hits and three walks.

Ben Miller led the way at the plate for Dighton-Rehoboth (11-6, 9-5 SCC), going 2-for-6 with a double and three RBIs as the Falcons beat Greater New Bedford 4-1 on the road in 12 innings of SCC action. Charlie Roth went 0-for-5 with a pair of runs while Gavin Salera went 1-for-6 with a run, Jake McGarry went 0-for-3 with a run, Maddex Mendoza went 4-for-6 and Brennan Silva went 3-for-6. Cole Viveiros earned the win for D-R after going five shutout innings in relief giving up a pair of hits while striking out five. Will LaBrie tossed the first seven inning giving up a run on three hits and four walks while striking out eight.

Softball

Haleigh Kelley led the way at the plate for Dighton-Rehoboth (15-3, 10-3 SCC), going 2-for-4 with a pair of runs and an RBI while Lucy Latour went 2-for-4 with a run and a pair of RBIs as the Falcons beat Greater New Bedford 7-2 on the road in SCC action. Caleigh Cloonan went 1-for-1 with a pair of runs while Skye Harrison 1-for-3 with a run and Ally Bastis went 1-for-4 with an RBI. Edy Latour earned the win for D-R after going all seven innings giving up a pair of runs on three hits and three walks while striking out three and went 2-for-3 at the plate.

Boys Lacrosse

Bristol-Plymouth (9-7, 9-6 MAC) fell 11-6 to Old Colony at home in MAC action.

Girls Lacrosse

Bristol-Plymouth (4-10, 4-6) fell 9-7 to Greater New Bedford at home in non-league action.

Karina Bosco led the way for Dighton-Rehoboth (9-5, 5-4 SCC) with five goals, seven draws and three ground balls as the Falcons beat Bourne 13-3 on the road in SCC action. Olivia Thibert had a hattrick while Gia Papa had a pair of goals and four assists, Ainsley Zibrida had a pair of goals and an assist and Mara Levesque had a goal and a pair of assists. Phoebe Braga made eight saves in net for D-R., which clinched a postseason berth with the win.

Softball

Bree Aldrich led the way at the plate for Bristol-Plymouth (11-6, 8-2 MAC), going 2-for-4 with a pair of runs and an RBI as the Craftsmen beat Greater Lowell Tech 6-2 on the road in non-league action. Isabella Torres went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles and a pair of RBIs while Shelby Estrella went 1-for-2 with a run and Molly Clark went 1-for-3 with a run. Gabrianna Arrighi earned the win for B-P going all seven innings giving up a pair of runs on five hits and a walk while striking out eight.

Boys Lacrosse

Jayson Kelleher led the way for Bridgewater-Raynham (9-6) with four goals while Brendan Rosher had a goal and four assists and Nikos Triantafillou had a pair of goals and an assist as the Trojans fell 9-8 in overtime to King Philip on the road.

Kyle Weldon went 2-for-2 with a run while Antonio Cirino went 1-for-3 with a run, Joe Benevides went 1-for-3 with an RBI and Thaniel LaBrie had a run off a walk. Colton Carvalho earned the win for B-P after going five innings giving up three runs on 11 hits while striking out five. Cam Cruz earned the save, tossing the final two shutout innings giving up a pair of hits and a walk.

Bristol-Plymouth (9-6, 9-5 MAC) fell 6-4 to Taunton on the road in non-league action.

Dighton-Rehoboth (5-8, 3-6 SCC) fell 20-7 to Seekonk on the road in SCC action.

Girls Lacrosse

Karina Bosco led the way for Dighton-Rehoboth (8-5, 4-4 SCC) with eight goals, three assists and five draws as the Falcons beat Seekonk 20-12 at home in SCC action. Olivia Thibert had five goals while Gia Papa had four goals and four assists, Mara Levesque had a hattrick and Ava Morgado had an assist. Phoebe Braga and Ava Escobar each had four saves in net for D-R.

Boys Volleyball

Taunton (4-12) fell 3-0 (15-25,13-25 and 20-25) to New Bedford at home.

Connar Dexter led the way for Dighton-Rehoboth (11-5, 9-3 Tri-Valley League) with 10 kills and eight blocks while Ian Hoskins had 10 kills and Yasiel Rodriguez had 23 assists as the Falcons fell 3-1 (23-25, 15-25, 25-22 and 22-25) to Nipmuc at home in TVL action.

Dwayne Burgo led the way at the plate for Taunton (14-4, 11-2 Hockomock), going 1-for-2 with a run as the Tigers beat Attleboro 2-1 at home in Hockomock action. Johnny Escobalez went 1-for-3 with an RBI double while Cam Dorr had a run off a walk. Cam Tomaszycki earned the win after going six shutout innings giving up five hits and a walk while striking out four. Brady Morin earned the save after tossing the final inning giving up an unearned run on a pair of hits. With the win, Taunton secures at least a share of the Hockomock Kelley-Rex title.

Antonio Cirino led the way at the plate for Bristol-Plymouth (6-8, 5-4 MAC), going 2-for-5 with a pair of runs and a pair of RBIs as the Craftsmen beat Southeastern 8-7 on the road in MAC action. Boys Lacrosse

Brendan Rosher led the way for Bridgewater-Raynham (9-5) with a hattrick and a pair of assists while Jayson Kelleher had four goals as the Trojans beat Barnstable 12-9 at home. With the win, B-R qualifies for the state tournament for the 14th consecutive season.

Girls Lacrosse

Emily Keefe led the way for Bridgewater-Raynham (4-12, 2-2 SEC) with six goals and three assists as the Trojans beat New Bedford 21-12 on the road in SEC action. Claire Fitzsimmons had a pair of goals and a pair of assists while Ashley McLaren had a hattrick and an assist, Erin Rennie and Lexi White each had a hattrick, Grace LaRose had a pair of goals and an assist, Frankie Fernandes found the back of the net and Kate Lambert recorded an assist.

Bristol-Plymouth (4-9, 4-6 MAC) fell 10-2 to Upper Cape Tech at home in MAC action.

Alex Verma won third singles 6-1, 6-2 as Dighton-Rehoboth (8-5, 7-4 SCC) fell 4-1 to Apponequet on the road in SCC action.

Girls Tennis

Sarah Riveiro won first singles 6-4, 6-4 while Morgan Smith won second singles 7-5, 3-6, 6-3, Ava Alves won third singles 6-2, 6-3 and the duo of Janelle Garcia and Ava Olivadesa won first doubles 6-2, 6-1 as Taunton (12-4, 9-4 Hockomock) beat Attleboro 4-1 at home in Hockomock action.

Dighton-Rehoboth (3-10, 3-8 SCC) fell 4-1 to Apponequet at home in SCC action.

Boys Track and Field

Will Dalton led the way for Dighton-Rehoboth (4-1, 4-1 SCC), winning both the 100 meter (0:11.4) and 200 meter (0:22.8, personal best) as the Falcons beat Old Rochester at home in an SCC dual meet. Also scoring wins for D-R were Matt Suprenard in the 400 meter (0:52.7, personal best), Jeremy Gale in the 800 meter (2:15, personal best), Joel DaSilva in the high jump (5'10", personal best), Mason Morgado in the triple jump (38'10", personal best), Cole Gifford in the javelin (138'3", personal best) and Tim Zibrida in the shot put (44'7", personal best).

Tyler Cattoggio led the way at the plate for Bridgewater-Raynham (5-11, 2-5 Southeast Conference), going 1-for-4 with a pair of runs and an RBI as the Trojans fell 4-3 to New Bedford on the road in 10 innings of SEC action. Connor Nichols went 2-for-4 with a run while Carson Lanagan went 1-for-4 with an RBI. Jack Haley took the loss for B-R after tossing the final 1⅓ innings giving up a pair of unearned runs on a pair of hits and a walk while striking out one. Jack Ritchie started and went 8⅓ innings giving up a pair of runs on seven hits and a pair of walks while striking out 10 and went 1-for-5 with an RBI at the plate.

Charlie Roth went 1-for-4 with a pair of runs while also tossing ⅓ of an inning in relief giving up three runs on a pair of hits and a walk while striking out one. Ace Fortin tossed two innings giving up two unearned runs on four hits and walk while striking out one before Gavin Salera tossed the final inning giving up a pair of hits.

Bridgewater-Raynham (9-5, 4-1 SEC) beat New Bedford 1-0 at home in SEC action.

Victoria D'Aiello led the way at the plate for Bristol-Plymouth (9-6, 7-2 Mayflower Athletic Conference), going 1-for-5 with a run and three RBIs off a home run as the Craftsmen fell 8-7 to Fontbonne Academy at home in eight innings of non-league action. Alexis Courtemanche went 1-for-1 with a pair of runs and an RBI while Ari Richards went 2-for-4 with a run and Bree Aldrich had a run off a walk. Gabrianna Arrighi took the loss for B-P after going 7⅓ innings giving up eight runs (seven earned) on 10 hits and four walks while striking out 12 before Aubrey Mabrouk tossed the remaining ⅔ of an inning striking out one.

Edy Latour led the way for Dighton-Rehoboth (14-3, 9-3 SCC), tossing all seven innings giving up four runs on 11 hits and three walks while striking out five and going 2-for-3 with a pair of runs and three RBIs off a pair of home runs as the Falcons beat Apponequet 5-4 at home in SCC action. Taunton (4-10, 1-9 Hockomock League) fell 16-0 to Mansfield on the road in Hockomock action.

Jack Swan led the way for Dighton-Rehoboth (5-7, 3-5 SCC) with seven goals, an assist and eight ground balls, reaching both his 100th career point and 150th career ground ball, as the Falcons beat Norton 16-5 at home in non-league action. Jaiden Solitro had five goals, six assists and three ground balls while Ryan Proctor had a pair of goals, Chris Rego had a goal and a pair of assists, Jack Horrocks had his first varsity goal and Jason Proctor had four assists.

Girls Lacrosse

Cali Melo led the way for Taunton (0-14, 0-10 Hockomock) with a hat trick and six draws as the Tigers fell 13-3 at home in Hockomock action. Taryn Campbell had an assist and three draws while Maddi Szala had an assist and a pair of draws.

Bristol-Plymouth (4-8, 4-5 MAC) fell 8-4 at home to Fontbonne Academy in non-league action.

Taunton (2-13, 0-12 Hockomock) beat New Bedford 3-2 on the road in non-league action.

David Anghinetti won first singles 6-1, 6-2 while Alex Verma won third singles 6-3, 6-3 as Dighton-Rehoboth (8-4, 7-3 SCC) fell 3-2 to Somerset Berkley on the road in SCC action.

Girls Tennis

Sarah Riveiro won first singles 6-0 and the second set by injury default while Morgan Smith and Ava Alves won second and third singles 6-0, 6-0 respectively as Taunton (11-4, 8-4 Hockomock) swept New Bedford 5-0 at home in non-league action.

Dighton-Rehoboth (3-9, 3-7 SCC) beat Case 3-2 at home in SCC action.

Cole Bridges won the mile (4:38.64) while Jack Alves won the two mile (10:20.51), Amin Abbassi won the javelin (143'8"), the relay team of Dan Leet, Caiden Blake, Ryan Hall and Jack Hannigan won the 4x400 meter relay (3:29.51) and the relay team of Brian Peters, Bridges, Josh Greer and Alves won the 4x800 meter relay (8:49.82) for Bridgewater-Raynham (3-0, 3-0 SEC) at the SEC Championship at New Bedford High School.

Girls Track and Field

Camden Strandberg led the way for Bridgewater-Raynham (3-0, 3-0 SEC), winning both the two mile (12:52.1) and the high jump (5') at the SEC Championship at New Bedford High School. Other league champions for the Trojans include Alisha Gomes in the 200 meter (0:27.21), Brenna Woodbury in the 400 meter (1:01.07, personal best), Lily Giurleo in the 800 meter (2:31.71, personal best), Molly Jesson in the mile (5:51.49, personal best), the 4x400 meter relay team of Gomes, Woodbury, Strandberg and Giurelo (4:22.7) and the 4x800 meter relay team of Tessa Bringardner, Erin Mitchell, Brooke Carney and Ashley Fischer (11:48.41).

Boys Volleyball

Taunton (4-11) fell 3-0 (24-26, 20-25 and 23-25) to Barnstable on the road.
