Friday Roundup: It was a night of big finishes and milestones around the Muskingum Valley.

Here are the area highlights and results from Thursday and Friday:

Friday's results

Boys Basketball

Zanesville 50, Pataskala Watkins Memorial 47: Senior guard Drake Tabler buried a 3-pointer as time expired to send the Blue Devils to an emotional Licking County League-Buckeye Division win at Winland Memorial Gymnasium.

Watkins (10-6, 6-3 LCL-Buckeye), which trailed 31-17 at the half and 37-30 entering the fourth, forced a turnover and tied the game at 47 with 30 seconds left.

Zanesville (4-9, 3-6) worked the clock for the final shot, and the ball wound up with point guard Drew Doyle.

Doyle, a senior, worked the ball up top and drew a double-team inside of 10 seconds, then passed off to an awaiting Tabler on the wing, who threw in a long 3 with a hand in his face.

Rashaud Hampton had 15 points — nine in the second quarter — and Maddox Hayes 12 with a strong rebounding effort for the Blue Devils, who host Newark Catholic in a Licking County League crossover on Tuesday.

Tri-Valley 72, Morgan 29: The Raiders' Carson Mummey surpassed the 1,000-point mark for his career, but the Scotties rolled to an MVL crossover win at home.

Nohah Nichols scored 20 points on 10 made baskets for Tri-Valley, which hit 33 of 55 floor attempts (60 percent) and held a 32-12 rebounding advantage.

Keaton Hahn and Daniel Huffman hit 3s in a 26-point first quarter for the Scotties, who built a 16-point lead that grew to 43-14 at halftime.

Terrell Darden added 17 points as Tri-Valley had five players scored at least seven points.

Mummey finished with 15 points, breaking 1,000-point barrier on two free throws in the third quarter.

New Lexington 62, Logan 40: Isaiah Stephens cracked the 1,000-point mark in a 30-point effort for the Panthers, who rolled to a nonleague win.

Stephens, who needed 24 points to reach 1,000, was 12-of-20 from the field, including 6-of-11 on 3s. He also assisted on five baskets and collected six steals.

Bentley Hanson added 15 points, five rebounds, two assists and three steals for the Panthers, who were 23-of-45 from the floor and 9-of-11 at the line with 10 turnovers.

New Lex held the Chieftains to 2-of-17 shooting on 3s and forced 19 turnovers.

Maysville 76, West Muskingum 43: Gator Nichols fired in a career-high 30 points for the Panthers, who hit 14 3-pointers in an MVL crossover win in Newton Township.

Nichols was 6-of-10 on 3s, which included three in the second quarter. Maysville, which led 36-25 at halftime, outscored the visitors, 26-8, in the third quarter.

Alex Bobb added 19 points with a trio of 3s and Jordyn Watson 13 points with four 3s for the Panthers.

Kyle Porter scored 11 of his 17 points in the first quarter for West M. Tavin Bennett added 11 counters.

Rosecrans 77, Cols. Cristo Rey 29: Grady Labishak hit eight 3-pointers in the first half for the Bishops in a nonleague rout at Rogge Gymnasium.

Labishak finished with 33 points — 30 in the first half — Tyler Bernett added 15 and Xander Daniels 12 for Rosecrans.

Rosecrans led 59-19 at halftime. Jamari Williams had 12 points for Cristo.

John Glenn 73, Crooksville 39: C.J. Dolan and Brayden Davis led three Muskies in double figures with 12 points in a Muskingum Valley League crossover in New Concord.

"Crooksville is a young team, they are playing a lot of freshmen and sophomores. They are talented, just don't have a lot of experience behind them," John Glenn head coach Eric Sheck said. "So we wanted to come out set the tone with our defense tonight."

"And I thought with us having a big guy like Caleb inside was the difference maker," Sheck added. "We were able to kind of take them out of what they wanted to do, and sort of compose our will and take control of the game early. My guys did nice job of executing the game plan tonight."

The Muskies jumped out to 35-20 lead at the halftime break, and then used a huge 26-8 scoring edge in the third quarter to take control for good

Senior Noah Winland added 11 points, including seven in the first quarter as John Glenn took an 18-7 lead and never trailed to improve to 7-2 in MVL play and 10-5 overall. Senior Caleb Larrick and sophomore Cooper Briggs each adding eight markers for the winners.

Konlan McIntyre hit four 3s among his game-high 19 points for Crooksville (4-11, 1-8 MVL). Jace Thompson added eight points and Kyson Riggs six.

Philo 56, Meadowbrook 48: Drew Wright led four Electrics in double figures with 14 points as they earned an MVL crossover win at The Power Plant.

Rusty Trout knocked down a trio of 3s and had 11 points for Philo, which led 41-38 entering the fourth quarter, then hit all four of its free throws in the final frame.

Talon Preston had 12 points and Cooper Radcliffe scored six of his 10 points in the fourth quarter for Philo.

Michael Ray's 12 points and 10 from Masyn Campbell and Bentley Sedor led Meadowbrook.

Sandy Valley 52, Ridgewood 33: Dante Faiello tallied 16 points and Nick Petro 12 for the Cardinals in an Inter-Valley Conference win in West Lafayette.

Jackson Cabot hit three 3s among his 15 points and Kole Robinson added 12 for Ridgewood, which trailed 18-9 after a quarter and 31-19 at halftime.

Cabot scored 13 points in the first half.

Steubenville 62, River View 49: The Black Bears fell at home to the Big Red in non-league play.

Thursday's results

Boys Basketball

Martins Ferry 70, Rosecrans 57: The Purple Riders closed the first quarter on a 13-0 run to build a 24-6 lead in a win over the Bishops (10-5) at Rogge Gymnasium.

Alex Reese, who finished with 25 points and 12 rebounds, scored nine points in each of the first two quarters, while Turner Krol, Elijah Smith and Tev'n Williams made 3s in the first quarter for Ferry, which was up 38-20 at the half.

Tyler Bernett knocked down six 3s to lead the Bishops, who were 21-of-56 from the field, with 18 points. Grady Labishak had 16 points despite being held scoreless in the first quarter to go with four assists, Xander Daniels added a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds and James Goggin passed out six assists.

Anthony Booth totaled 12 points and Krol, Smith and Williams chipped in eight points for the Purple Riders, who made 27 of 63 field goals and grabbed 18 offensive rebounds.

Girls Basketball

Columbus Watterson 49, Tri-Valley 42: MacKenzie Harvey knocked down five 3s, four in the second half, and finished with 18 points, but the Scotties (12-5) fell to the Eagles.

Sophie Ziel made four 3s and 6-of-6 free throws as part of her game-high 22 points and Alex Mosholder added 13 with three 3s, as Watterson led 22-12 at the half.

Harvey made three triples in the third to get the Scotties within 33-29 going to the fourth. Maddie Garber added eight points for Tri-Valley.

Ridgewood 73, Claymont 49: Kya Masloski poured in a team-high 19 points for the Generals (13-3, 9-3) in an Inter-Valley Conference South Division win over the Mustangs.

Kat Kelley tallied 12 points and Kierston Latham chipped in 11 for the winners.

Bowling

River View girls suffer first loss: West Holmes topped the Lady Bears 1,820-1,729 at Spare Time Lanes, as River View dropped to 11-1.

The Lady Bears, who face East Knox on Wednesday in Mt. Vernon, were led by freshman Kaylie Bryan with a 201 game and 382, 2 game set, freshman Karley Stocker with a 259, 2 game set, and sophomore Annie Ward with 253, 2 game set.
