Three Houma Christian School athletes sign letters of intent to play college sports
Three Houma Christian School athletes officially took the next step in their careers Thursday morning when they signed to play college sports in a ceremony at the school.
Jozie Lovell got the ceremony started when she signed to play college soccer at John Melvin University.
"I just want to thank God," Lovell said. "I want to thank all my family and my teammates and my coaches."
Lovell's signing was special, as earlier this year she accepted a scholarship to play softball at JMU. Now, she'll get the chance to play both sports in college.
"I'm very thankful that this is my second scholarship this year," Lovell said. "Ever since I was a kid, I wanted to play two sports in college. I never knew if it was going to be done, and it has been."
Gunner Blanchard also signed to play college soccer Thursday, deciding to play collegiately at Louisiana Christian.
"It feels amazing," Blanchard said. "Honestly, I was a little nervous about moving on, but I'm ready for the next step."

Finally, football player Joseph Landry closed the ceremony when he signed to play college football for Centenary College of Louisiana.
"I've been working for this my whole life," said Landry. "It was always my dream to play college football. I want to thank my family, my parents, my coaches. It means a lot."
