Tennis: Bronson takes second at SMITL League Championship, Bracketts wins conference crown

BRONSON – The Bronson Viking tennis team traveled to the SMITL League Championship on Saturday, as the teams looked for some early postseason success.

The Vikings finished with runner-up honors on the day in the team standings. Helping the Vikings to their second-place finish was one flight champion, two runner-up finishers, two third place finishes, one fourth place finisher and two fifth place finishers.

Leading the way for Bronson was No. 2 singles player Aleah Brackett who won the SMITL League Championship in her flight, earning Brackett First Team All-Conference honors.

One singles player and a doubles team earned runner-up honors in their respective flights, giving them All Conference Honorable Mention honors. Taking second place in the flight was the No. 1 singles player Cheyanne Villasan and the No. 1 doubles team of Ella Ramsey and Sienna Mclatcher.

Earning third place finishes on the long day of tennis was No. 3 singles player Aubree Wyant and No. 4 singles player Hailey Francom.

Finishing in fourth place was the No. 4 doubles team of Anna Pinon and Aubrey Gump, while the No. 3 doubles team of Vanessa Carillo and Kailee Meyers and the No. 2 doubles team of Kyleigh Springman and Sophia Reed took fifth place.

Bronson will be back in action Wednesday when they face Three Rivers.

Coldwater Tennis falls to Vicksburg

COLDWATER – The Coldwater Cardinal tennis team dropped a non-conference dual meet to Vicksburg on Monday, falling by the score of 6-2.

Taking wins for Coldwater was the No. 3 singles player Claire Hawver who won in a third set tiebreaker by scores of 6-4, 6-7, and 10-8.

Also bringing home a victory was the No. 1 doubles team of Carly Kryzanski and Luci Cunningham who won by scores of 6-3 and 7-6.

Additional wins for Coldwater came from the doubles team of London Elkins and Lydia Villa; singles competitor Charlotte Calhoun; and singles competitor Nataly Torres-Ojeda.
