Tennessee football legend Tee Martin elevated to Baltimore Ravens QB coach

Tennessee football legend Tee Martin has been elevated to quarterbacks coach of the Baltimore Ravens, the team announced Wednesday.

Martin was the wide receivers coach for the past two seasons.

"Tee has coached every aspect of the passing game and has played and coached the quarterback position at the highest levels," Ravens coach John Harbaugh said in a release announcing Martin's new role. "A dynamic and dedicated coach, he is a high-character individual who is uniquely qualified to build upon the foundation and success of our quarterbacks."

Who Martin will be coaching at the position is a question. Lamar Jackson has played out his rookie deal and is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent, though ESPN reports Jackson is expected to be franchise tagged before next month's deadline. Jackson and the Ravens have had two years to work out a new deal, but one has not materialized. Backup quarterback Tyler Huntley, who started the Ravens' AFC Wild Card loss to Cincinnati in January, is a restricted free agent.

Martin will work under new Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken, the former Georgia offensive play-caller who helped the Bulldogs win back-to-back titles. Monken replaced Greg Roman as Baltimore's offensive coordinator.

Martin took the WR coach job at the Ravens in 2021 following two seasons as the Vols assistant head coach and wide receivers coach under Jeremy Pruitt.

Martin started two seasons, including the 1998 national championship season, at quarterback for the Vols, compiling a 22-3 record.

Baltimore is Martin's first NFL coaching stop after spending the last 12 years coaching in college.
