Syracuse adds Oklahoma transfer RB Abdul Adams
Abdul Adams is heading to the ACC.
Syracuse announced Monday that it has added the former Oklahoma running back its roster. Adams rushed for 825 yards over his two seasons with the Sooners and was third on the team with 542 yards on just 59 carries in 2017. That’s a 9.2-yard average. He also rushed for 283 yards on 53 carries as a true freshman in 2016.
Adams had one touchdown during his time at Oklahoma, a 99-yard burst in the win over Baylor. That score is the longest in OU history.
Despite the production, Adams finished the season behind redshirt sophomore Rodney Anderson and true freshman Trey Sermon on the Sooners’ depth chart. Adams had only 14 rushing attempts over OU’s last six games and did not touch the ball in the Big 12 title game or Rose Bowl.
Adams is already enrolled in classes and will participate in spring practice with the Orange. However, Adams has to sit out the 2018 season in accordance with NCAA transfer rules. From there, he will have two seasons — 2019 and 2020 — of eligibility remaining.
Adams was a four-star recruit in the 2016 class.
