State champ Moeller, Badin lead all-Ohio honorees from Prep Baseball Report
Prep Baseball Report on Wednesday released its all-state teams for the 2023 high school baseball season.
Division I state champion Moeller had three players among the organization’s “Elite 25,” honoring the top 25 players in all of Ohio. Moeller finished fifth in the final MaxPreps national poll, setting an Ohio record.
Nathan Manley, a senior Wright State commit, hit .405 with 21 RBI and 10 steals as one of three catchers honored in the Elite 25.
Toby Hueber, a George Mason commit, hit. 4065 with 10 doubles, four triple and 27 RBI. He stole 32 bases this season to set a Moeller school record. He was also Moeller’s ace with a 10-0 record and 1.54 ERA.
Hueber was also named the Division I player of the year, while Moeller head coach Tim Held was the DI Coach of the Year.
Zion Theophilus, a sophomore pitcher, was honored after going 7-0 with a 1.36 ERA.
For Mason, Michigan commit Michael Murphy was honored in the Elite 25 as a pitcher after going 6-0 with a 0.86 ERA. He also hit .351 with three home runs and 30 RBI.
Mason junior Jake Hanley was honored after hitting .393 with 11 extra-base hits and 22 RBI. He was 7-1 with a 0.98 ERA on the mound.
Two Louisville commits from two of Cincinnati’s best performing teams this spring also made the Elite 25.
Senior Lucas Moore from Badin was honored as on outfielder after hitting .460 with nine doubles, seven triples and two home runs, plus 21 stolen bases. Badin was 29-2, and head coach Brion Treadway was named coach of the year. Moore was one of four first-team all-state honorees by PBR, and the Rams had two second-team picks as well.
Lebanon senior Colton Hartman is in the Elite 25 after going 6-2 with 1.18 ERA and 88 strikeouts in 53 innings.
Fairfield junior Aaron England made the Elite 25 after going 6-2 with a 0.62 ERA and 93 strikeouts in 44 innings, averaging more than two per inning. He also hit .351 at the plate.
Williamsburg, who finished 22-6 this season and won the Southern Buckeye-National Division, had three all-state honorees in Division III.
As part of its year-end honors, PBR also released an all-region team for each part of the state, and an all-state team for each graduating class.
