STAUNTON — It was a year ago this past April that Camryn Shull, just 22, died following a diagnosis of cancer in 2020.

The graduate of both Robert E. Lee (now Staunton) High and James Madison University died April 2, 2023 from the effects of osteosarcoma. This June, the community will hold a Run for Cam 5K in her memory.

The proceeds from the event will be distributed to charities chosen to honor Camryn's passions in life: the Sarcoma Foundation of America, the Augusta SPCA, and the Surfrider Foundation Beach Cleanup. An additional portion will directly support the Shull family.

This 5K will be held on Sunday, June 2, at Staunton's Gypsy Hill Park. The race will begin at 8:30 a.m. followed by a dog run, live music and food trucks. The event is scheduled to run until 12:30 p.m.
