Here's a look at the scores and highlights from Saturday's high school action on the SouthCoast.
BASEBALL
New Bedford 11, Oliver Ames 7
The Whalers (1-7) captured their first win of the season on Saturday thanks to a big day at the plate from Jarren Goodine. Goodine went 3-for-3 with three runs scored and four RBIs. He also walked, was hit by a pitch and stole three bases. Joe Castelo added two hits and two RBIs while Payton Beaulieu, Kyle Pisz, JT Goodine and Brent Sharples also had run-scoring hits. Marquize Gonsalves, Trevor Roderiques and Kyle Pisz combined for the win on the mound.
Seekonk 2, GNB Voc-Tech 1
The Bears (4-3, 3-3 SCC) saw their three-game win streak come to an end on Friday. Cam Cabral went six innings, allowing two earned runs while striking out seven. He went 1-for-3 at the plate. Noah Mello was 1-for-3 with an RBI while Illiam Santiago was 1-for-2 with a run scored. Boston Bettencourt went 1-for-3.
