See how Tuscaloosa area softball teams fared at AHSAA regionals

The AHSAA softball regionals wrapped up this week, with the top two teams from each regional advancing to the state tournament May 13-17 at Choccolocco Park in Oxford.

Regionals were held in four locations: Gulf Shores, Montgomery, Florence and Albertville.

Here is how Tuscaloosa area softball teams did at the regional tournament:

Class 1A

South Lamar, Berry see seasons come to an end

South Lamar lost its opening round game to Verbana 7-2 to fall into the elimination bracket, where it won three straight before falling in the elimination bracket final game again to Verbana, this time by a score of 13-10, as it saw its season come to an end.

Berry lost its opening round game to Maplesville 15-4 to fall into the elimination bracket, where it two games before falling to South Lamar 13-3 as its season came to a close.

Class 2A

Lamar County, Sulligent fall in Central Regional

Lamar County made it to the final of the winner's bracket before losing 9-0 to Thorsby to fall into the elimination bracket. Lamar County came up one win sort of a state tournament bid, falling 9-2 to Horseshoe Bend in the elimination bracket championship game.

Horseshoe Bend also put an end to Sulligent's season in the third round of the elimination bracket, with Horseshoe Bend defeating the Blue Devils by a score of 4-1 to put an end to their season.

Class 3A

Winfield wins North Regional

Winfield defeated Danville 10-0 and Mars Hill Bible 3-1 in its first two games. It went onto defeat Colbert Heights 4-3 in the regional championship game to claim a spot in the state tournament next week.

Greensboro, Gordo fall in elimination brackets

Greensboro fell 15-0 in its opening round game to Randolph County then 21-2 to Childersburg in the elimination bracket as it saw its season come to an end.

In the North regional, Gordo lost its opening round matchup 6-2 to Mars Hill Bible before falling 12-2 in Danville in the elimination bracket as it saw its season come to an end.

Class 4A

Northside wins Central Regional

Northside cruised through regional play, defeating Dallas County (16-1), American Christian Academy (2-1) and Prattville Christian (4-0) as it went onto win the regional and punch its ticket to the state tournament.

ACA, Bibb County, Sipsey Valley fall

ACA made it to the championship game of the elimination bracket, falling 4-3 to Prattville Christian and just short of a state tournament bid.

Bibb County made it to the third round of the elimination bracket before falling 8-4 to ACA, and Sipsey Valley lost 9-1 to ACA in the second round of the elimination bracket as both teams saw their seasons come to an end.

Class 5A

Demopolis' season comes to an end

Demopolis won its opening round game over John Carroll Catholic 12-5 before falling 3-2 to Tallassee and moving to the elimination bracket. In the elimination bracket, Demopolis fell 13-4 to Sylcauga as its season came to an end.

Class 6A

Brookwood, Northridge see seasons come to an end

The Lady Panthers won their first-round matchup at the central regional, defeating Northridge 10-0. The Jaguars moved into the elimination bracket, falling 11-8 to Stanhope Elmore and they saw their season come to an end.

Brookwood went onto fall 2-0 in the second round to Helena, the eventual winner's bracket champion, moving it to the elimination bracket. In the elimination bracket, the Lady Panthers saw themselves fall 4-2 to Pelham as their season came to an end.

Hillcrest advances to state tournament

In the central regional in Montgomery, Hillcrest won its first-round game in the winner's bracket over McAdory 4-2 but lost in the second round to Calera 2-1, bumping them into the elimination bracket. The Patriots went onto win the elimination bracket, defeating Stanhope Elmore (9-1), Pelham (10-6) and a revenge win over Calera (2-1) to advance to the Class 6A state tournament next week.
