14 Tuscaloosa area high school golfers to watch in AHSAA state tournaments

High school golf postseason is approaching with AHSAA sub-state tournaments beginning May 6-7 and state tournaments on May 13-14. Here are 14 girls and boys golfers to watch from the Tuscaloosa area this postseason:

Girls

Ella Roberts, Brookwood

Roberts led the Brookwood girls golf team to a 10-2 season and heads to sectionals Monday, April 29 at Ol Colony.  She capped her season with a 3-under par 33 at Bent Brook golf course in her final match of the season versus Bibb County.

AC Beeker, Tuscaloosa Academy

Beeker won the low medalist award at the 1A-3A Sectional Tournament.

Lucy Lunceford, Northside

Lunceford was medalist in the Viking Classic at Musgrove Country Club and on the All-Tournament Team. She also placed on the All-Tournament Team in the Aggie Invitational at Sylacauga Country Club. Lunceford shot 74 in the 4A/5A Section 2 tournament en route to the Northside girls' first-place finish. Lunceford is signed with East Mississippi Community College to continue her golf career.

Anna Perdue, Northside

Anna Perdue finished second at the Viking Classic and was named to the All-Tournament Team. She shot 78 in the 4A/5A Section 2 tournament.

Allie Perdue, Northside

Allie Perdue finished fourth at the Viking Classic and was also named to the All-Tournament Team. She shot 79 in the 4A/5A Section 2 tournament.

Boys

Kam Colee, Northside

Colee was medalist in two of 10 matches this season with a 9-hole low of 39 in competition. He shot a 79 at Indian Hills in the Tom Tarleton Memorial, which was good for fourth lowest score in the tournament. He qualified for sectionals for the second straight year.

Elliott Overton, Winfield City

Overton shot 68 and was medalist at the Fayette Invitational and 69 at the County Championship the week before. He is the Conference and County Champion 4 years in a row and a previous Tuscaloosa News POY.

Jace Duckworth, Northridge

Duckworth shot an even 72 at 6A Sectionals to lead Northridge to a first-place finish. He is signed to play collegiate golf at Meridian Community College.

Caleb Terrell, Northridge

Terrell shot a 1-over 73 in Northridge's first-place finish at 6A Sectionals.

Taylor Chambers, Northridge

Chambers shot a 2-over 74 in Northridge's first-place finish at 6A Sectionals.

Elijah Oliver, Hillcrest

Oliver led the way for the Patriots as they qualified for the sub-state tournament at 6A Sectionals.

Bradford Pruett, Demopolis

Pruett was the low medalist in the 5A Section 2 Sectionals Tournament at Demopolis Country Club. He shot a 3-under-par 69, helping Demopolis to a first-place finish and a new team record of 298.

Hunter Powell, Demopolis

Powell shot 1-over-par 73 at sectionals as an eighth grader.

Clark Vandiver, Fayette County

Vandiver was the overall low medalist at the 3A Sectionals Tournament.
