Seacoast roundup: STA's Avery blasts walk-off homer, Traip boys lacrosse wins first game

DURHAM - Timmy Avery blasted a walk-off, three-run homer as the St. Thomas Aquinas baseball team beat Division I Timberlane, 11-8 in nine innings on Tuesday.

Kenny Avery had four hits, scored three runs and drove in one for the Division II Saints, while Mike Skowron had three hits and four RBIs, and Ryan Allard had two hits and three RBIs.

Graham Willerer struck out three and allowed one hit over the final 2 2/3 scoreless innings, earning the win.

BASEBALL

Dover 5

Portsmouth 3

PORTSMOUTH - Charlie Kubiet struck out Nick Gladu with the bases loaded to end the game as Dover hung on for this Division I win.

Kubiet scattered eight hits over seven innings, allowing three earned runs and striking out nine. Dover is 9-4, while Portsmouth is 7-6.

Portsmouth led 3-2 after five innings, but Dover tied the game with a run in the sixth and added two more in the seventh. In the seventh inning, Nate MacGregor's double scored Aubin, and MacGregor scored on a Will Angers' sacrifice fly.

Portsmouth's Zavier Lampert allowed one hit over five innings, striking out seven.

Roger Mercier led Dover with two hits, while Aubin, MacGregor, and Ryan Sullivan all had one.

Jake Carlisle, Patrick Bancroft and Joe Zingariello all had an RBI for the Clippers. Gar Hindle, Tucker Huskey and Carlisle all had two hits for Portsmouth (7-6), while Bancroft and Zingariello both had one.

WINDHAM - Finn Adams had three hits and four RBIs, and Brennan Schimoler had three hits and scored three runs as Exeter improved to 12-1 in Division I. The game was called after five innings due to the 10-run rule.

Cam Keaveney struck out six and allowed three hits and one earned run over four innings, earning the win.

HAMPTON - Connor Fowler, Miles Pratt and Timmy Knight all had two hits for Winnacunnet (7-7) in this Division I game.

The Warriors scored seven runs in the second, and two in the sixth. Miles Pratt (two hits, two RBIs) and Alex Santora (hit, two RBIs, run) joined the Winnacunnet hit parade.

Knight struck out five and allowed three hits and one earned run over seven innings, earning the win.

NEWMARKET - Junior John Schlieder allowed three hits and one earned run, while striking out nine over seven innings, leading Newmarket (10-1) to this Division IV win.

Nate Fluet drove home the game-winning RBI for the Mules, while Jack Ferrelli (hit, RBI, run), Cam Moran (hit, run), Jackie Prompradit (hit, run), Evan Sheehan (hit) and Matt Napoletano (hit) contributed.

The Eagles were held to three hits - one each by Andrew Earwood, Cai Summers, and Mika Allaire.

PCA's Kian Littlefield allowed three runs and struck out six over 5 2/3 innings. PCA is 6-3.

Arden Langmaid had three hits and three RBIs for the Warriors, while Joslyn Snow had three hits and one RBI. Lucy Gelbstein (hit, three runs) and Lily Snow (two hits, two RBIs, run) both contributed.

Eaton struck out eight and allowed three hits and one unearned run.

LITCHFIELD - Laura Boughton and Maeve Hickok both had two doubles and two RBIs as Oyster River cruised to this Division II win.

Addy Veno and Maddy Veno both had three hits for the Bobcats, while Gracy Spirito (two hits, RBI) and Kate Michaud (three-run homer) starred.

Addy Veno allowed three hits and struck out six over five innings, earning the win.

NEWMARKET - Kiera Souphakhot allowed one hit and struck out 12, leading Newmarket to this Division IV win. Souphakhot also had two hits and scored two runs.

Kloe MacKenzie's sacrifice scored Eliza Arwood with the lone run for PCA (8-3). Lexi Jordan allowed one earned run over seven innings, taking the loss.

MANCHESTER - Grace Royal had six goals and three assists, reaching the career 100-point milestone, in this Division II win for the Bobcats.

Keira Ferris also had six goals for Oyster River, while Lindsey Morin had five goals and one assist, Kris Jakobs had one goal and one assist, and Kira Jakobs, Shea Sullivan, Hannah Main and Bel Ejarque all had one goal. Mia Weglarz, Lexi Gill and Eliza Farwell all had an assist in the win. Farwell (eight) and Sydney Haines (three) combined for 11 saves.
