Seacoast roundup: Late goal by Moreau gives Portsmouth field hockey win over Kennett

PORTSMOUTH – Sydney Moreau’s goal with 5 minutes, 50 seconds left in regulation broke a scoreless tie and led the Portsmouth High School field hockey team to a 1-0 win over Kennett on Friday in a Division II contest.

Portsmouth is now 7-2-1 on the season.

Portsmouth goalie Reese McCauley had 11 saves, while Julia McGeorge, Ira Weinstein and Maggie Conklin all played well in the win.

FIELD HOCKEY

Concord 3

Winnacunnet 2, OT

HAMPTON - Concord scored two goals in regulation and the game-winner on a penalty stroke in overtime of this Division I game.

Hayden Adams scored both goals for Winnacunnet.

Traip Academy 2 

Waynflete 1 

KITTERY, Maine – Eden Varney and Noelle French each scored a goal for Traip in this Class C win, the Rangers’ second of the season.

Defensively, Acadia Dorgan shined for the Rangers.

GIRLS SOCCER

MANCHESTER - Maddie Karsonovich scored on a rebound off a shot by Elizabeth Flynn late in the first half of this Division III match.

The Saints are now 10-0 on the season.

Portsmouth Christian Academy 8

Pittsfield 0

PITTSFIELD - Jaela Stockbower had three goals and Tatum Smith had two for PCA (8-1) in a Division IV win.

Louisa Henker had four assists for the Eagles, and goalie Ella Walsh had five saves.

VOLLEYBALL

Dover 3 

Nashua South 0 

DOVER – Tory Vitko’s 14 kills and 11 assists led Dover (9-1) to this Division I win.

Individual game scores were 25-11, 25-22, 25-16.

Reagan Bernard (eight kills) and Quinn Carberry (13 assists) shined for Dover.

Oyster River 3

St. Thomas Aquinas 1

DOVER - Gabby Puertas had eight kills and six aces for St. Thomas Aquinas in this Division II loss.

Individual games scores were 25-22, 25-21, 16-25, 25-16.

Camila Garcia added 28 assists for the Saints, while Asia Saffie had 20 digs.

Merrimack 1

PORTSMOUTH - Maddie MacCannell had 12 kills, and Georgia Pinciaro had 11, leading Portsmouth to this Division I win.

Individual game scores were 22-25, 25-14, 25-16, 25-15.

Eva Lalime had 16 digs and four aces, while Roe Beland had seven aces and Margaret Montplaisir had six.

GOLF

Dover sweeps thanks to tie-breaker

HUDSON - Dover, Hanover and Keene all had a team score of 204, but the Green Wave was credited with the win thanks to Ben Zbikowski's tie-breaking sixth score with a 44 at Whip-Poor-Will Golf Club.

Nashua South placed fourth with a 225. Dover is now 19-4 on the season.

Dover junior Carys Fennessy carded a medalist-round of 1-under-par 35. Michael Gorman shot a 40 for Dover, while Ben Larson had a 41, and Jon Dumais and Gavin Bernard each shot a 44.
