Rouse soccer player JJ Arellano, who notched two goals and an assist in the Raiders' two regional tournament victories to advance to the UIL state soccer tournament, was voted the Covert Chevrolet Bastrop Austin-Area Girls Athlete of the Week for April 1-6.

Arellano received 47.6% of the vote. Dripping Springs softball player Haiden Anderson, Westlake soccer player Sophia Martin, Hendrickson soccer player Kaylee McKinley and Rouse softball player Delaney Vannoy also were candidates. San Marcos softball pitcher Addie Sierra won the previous poll, for March 25-30.

The American-Statesman will have a weekly vote for Girls Athlete of the Week and Boys Athlete of the Week throughout the academic year.
