Roundup: Three Licking County girl wrestlers win titles at Fredericktown

Three Licking County girls wrestlers went unbeaten Sunday and won titles at Fredericktown’s Freddie Invite.

Utica’s Hailey Wygle pinned all five of her opponents at 120 pounds, including St. Mary’s Isabella Hertenstein.

Licking Valley’s Addison Justice pinned all four of her opponents at 125, including Licking Heights’ Lauren Seeman in the final.

Heights’ Victoria Waddell pinned three of her four opponents at 190, including runner-up Malaya Foster of Elyria.

Valley’s Kenly Muzykowski (100), Utica’s Annie Franks (115), Heights’ Lauren Seeman (125) and Lilly Seeman (155) and Johnstown’s Cailyn Casto (130) each took runner-up.

Utica’s Hanna Wygle (110) and Maddison Cossin (115) and Johnstown’s Kortlynn Smith (145) each placed third.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Pastorius leads Newark

Grace Pastorius scored 7 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for Newark in a 49-36 loss to Huber Heights Wayne (8-8) at Central Crossing.

Calli Geller scored 14 points and Addi Hall 12 for the Wildcats (7-8).

SWIMMING

Newark teams win titles

The Newark girls and boys each won the team championships Friday during the Oakstone Invitational.

Maryn Hatfield in the 200-meter individual medley (3:07.43) and 100 freestyle (1:08.74) and Addison Cain in the 100 butterfly (1:21.52) and 100 backstroke (1:21.63) each were double individual winners, and Meredith Pyle won the 400 free for for the Newark girls. Hatfield and Cain also joined Savanna Barnes and Isabelle Tracy on the winning 200 medley (2:38.71) and 400 free (5:18.89) relays.

Kayla Vance won the 200 free (2:49.71) and Sophia BeVier the 100 breaststroke (1:37.87) for Northridge. They also joined Bryanna Busch and Caitlin Fuller on the winning 200 free relay (2:19.89).

Licking Heights' Cara Denlinger won the 50 free (33.95).

In the boys meet, Newark's Leyton Ricketts was a double winner in the 100 fly (1:12.30) and 100 back (1:11.16), and teammates Turin Hatfield in the 400 free (6:08.99) and Colin Vermaaten in the 200 IM (4:20.59) also were individual winners. Ricketts and Turin Hatfield joined Jaden Moisey and Robert Wright on the winning 200 medley (2:16.06) and 400 free (4:39.31) relays.

Northridge's Travis Allen was a double winner in the 100 free (1:05.87) and 100 breaststroke (1:23.20).

Licking Heights' Aiden Nicol won the 50 free (29.40), and Gage Tucker, M.J. Meidl, Trey Figueroa and Ethan Martindill won the 200 free relay (2:16.94).
