Robert Griffin III ranks his top CFB teams

ESPN college football and NFL analyst Robert Griffin III has ranked his top five college football teams ahead of Week 6 of the college football season. Griffin III played college football at Baylor and won a Heisman during his career. He additionally played several seasons in the NFL with Washington, Cleveland, and Baltimore.

The College Football Playoff rankings come out in several weeks. Will preseason favorites Georgia, Ohio State, and Alabama still be the top three teams?

The trio remains ranked as the top three teams in the country. Some college football teams have easier paths to the CFP than other teams. However, Missouri’s near upset of Georgia shows that chaos could happen any week.

How does Griffin III rank the top teams in college football?

No. 5 Clemson Tigers

The Greenville News

Clemson won, 30-20, at home against the NC State Wolfpack last week. The Tigers have the longest home winning streak in the country and have been performing better offensively in recent weeks.

The Tigers (5-0) and quarterback DJ Uiagalelei play at Boston College in Week 6. Clemson has one ranked opponent remaining on its schedule (Syracuse). The Tigers have some challenging remaining games, however, Clemson will likely be favored by a significant amount in its final seven regular season games.

No. 4 Michigan Wolverines

Detroit Free Press

The Wolverines won on the road at Iowa last week. Michigan plays at Indiana in Week 6. Michigan running back Blake Corum and quarterback J.J. McCarthy are a good combination.

Michigan faces a big test on Oct. 15 against Penn State.

No. 3 Georgia Bulldogs

Georgia narrowly beat Missouri, 26-22, last week. The Bulldogs have put together back-to-back poor performances. Robert Griffin III still thinks the Bulldogs should be ranked among the nation’s top three teams.

Georgia hosts Auburn in Week 6. The Bulldogs have the talent to be a championship contender, but must improve in the red zone and limit turnovers offensively.

No. 2 Alabama Crimson Tide

Gary Cosby Jr.-USA TODAY Sports

Alabama quarterback Bryce Young suffered a shoulder sprain in the Crimson Tide’s 49-26 road win last week at Arkansas. Young is expected to be okay.

Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide host Texas A&M in Week 6. The Aggies have a solid defense, but have not shown enough on the offensive side of the ball to think that they will compete with Alabama.

No. 1 Ohio State Buckeyes

Robert Griffin III considers Ohio State to be the best team in college football. The Buckeyes have not had a competitive game since its contested Week 1 game against Notre Dame.

Quarterback CJ Stroud and Ohio State travel to play Michigan State in Week 6. The Buckeyes (5-0) defeated Rutgers, 49-10, last week. Ohio State’s defense has played much better this season.
